Their heartfelt cheers echoed with pride, encouragement, and the Unity spirit, inspiring the Class of 2025 to face their upcoming GCE examinations with confidence. As they step forward into new beginnings, we wish all graduates the very best in their future endeavours!

From the Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we wrap up Semester Two of 2025, I am delighted to share the many highlights and milestones of Unity Secondary School. This semester has been a wonderful culmination of dedication, growth, and teamwork among our students, staff, and community. I invite you to take a walk down memory lane with your child or ward and reminisce about the joyful and meaningful experiences they have had in school this year.

Celebrating Innovation in Teaching and Learning

To future-proof our students, we continue to build staff capacity in designing 21CC (21st Century Competencies) lessons. I am proud to share that our school’s innovative efforts were recognised by MOE in two key ways this year:

MOE Innergy Bronze Award 2025 for our Structured Approach to Designing and Facilitating 21CC Lessons through Technology, affirming our innovative use of technology in lesson design.

Our good practices and innovation journey were also featured nationally by MOE’s 21CC Office as a model of good practice.

Positive Student Experience

We are heartened by the 2025 MOE Quality of School Experience (QSE) results: 93% of Sec 3 students expressed confidence in the school’s holistic development efforts above national averages. 86% felt a strong sense of belonging to the Unity family.

Partnering Parents for Holistic Growth

We deeply appreciate the strong belief and support of our parents. From 2026, we will implement smartphone lockers and promote healthy replacement activities such as board and sports games during recess to encourage meaningful face-to-face interactions. We seek your continued partnership in nurturing healthy screen habits and supporting our smartphone policy, so students can develop focus, balance, and well-being in a digital world.

Re-envisioning Unity’s Future

This year, we engaged students, staff, and alumni in reimagining our school vision. We look forward to sharing the outcomes of this exciting journey in 2026.

Enhancing Student Spaces and Support

New lifts were installed to support students with medical needs and those carrying equipment. We also launched Serenity Cove, our new Student Services Hub a safe haven offering counselling and career guidance that has quickly become a well-loved space for care and connection.

Meaningful Learning Beyond the Classroom

Our STEM Applied Learning Programme (ALP) inspired students through projects on Smart Home Farming (Sec 1) and Alternative Food Sources (Sec 2), including advocacy on insect-based food sustainability. These projects culminated in vibrant showcases for peers, parents, and staff.

Looking ahead, Unity Secondary has been selected by MOE to participate in the 2026 National Day Parade with about 100 Sec 1–3 students representing the school. This will be a memorable experience in collaboration, adaptability, and national pride.

Serving the Community with Heart

Unity received the 2025 People’s Association Community Spirit (PACS) Merit Award for our sustained contributions to the Yew Tee community. Our students actively participated in events such as Yew Tee Day, Clothes Swap, MY $1 Deals, and the NorthWest Food Sustainability Festival. We thank our staff, students, and parents for their strong spirit of service.

Celebrating Student and Staff Learning

As the year ends, we celebrate our students’ resilience through their examinations and extend our best wishes to our graduating cohort in their next chapter.

Semester 2 brimmed with highlights the Unity Run, Sports Fiesta, SG60 National Day Celebration, Overseas Learning Trip to Chongqing, and Leadership Learning Week, all of which deepened teamwork and global awareness. Our Peer Support Leaders also spearheaded a Mental Wellness Campaign that promoted emotional resilience.

Our teachers also ended the year on a note of learning and renewal through various learning journeys such as the SG60 Heart & Soul Experience, Singapore Oceanarium Career Guidance Programme, and Holland Village & HarbourFront Heritage Quest. These experiences enriched our educators’ perspectives on Singapore’s history, culture, and innovation helping us design even more engaging, future-ready learning experiences for our students.

Gratitude and Looking Ahead

As we reflect on this year ’ s journey, I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our parents, staff, and community partners. Your trust and collaboration have been instrumental in shaping a caring and dynamic environment where every Unity student can thrive.

We look forward to another exciting year in 2026, filled with new opportunities for growth and learning. Until then, I wish all our Unity families a restful and joyous holiday season may it be a time of rejuvenation, laughter, and meaningful connection with loved ones.

With gratitude and pride in our Unity family,

Outward Bound Singapore: Leading Themselves Beyond Boundaries

In August, our Secondary 3 students embarked on a transformative 5-day, 4night expedition-based adventure at Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) across the East Coast, Punggol and Pulau Ubin campuses. Joined by peers from other secondary schools, our students experienced the power of collaboration and perseverance beyond the classroom.

Through team-based challenges, they learnt to lead themselves and others, fostering resilience, teamwork, and confidence. The OBS experience encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones, make independent decisions, and take responsibility for their teams’ success.

Leadership LearningWeek (LLW):

Reflecting, Reconnecting, and Recharging

Held on 23–24 October 2025, the Leadership Learning Week (LLW) provided all Secondary 1–3 students with time to reflect on their growth, practise self-care, and show appreciation to those who have supported them throughout the year.

Across the sessions, Unitians explored different aspects of personal wellness such as physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being.

The “Journeying Together” reflections encouraged students to articulate their progress, set goals, and express appreciation for family, friends, and teachers who had shaped their growth.

By the end of LLW, Unitians were reminded that leadership begins with self-awareness, reflection, and gratitude. They are values that nurture both personal resilience and a caring school community.

Wellness Carnival 2025: A Celebration of Fun, Learning, andWell-Being

The Wellness Carnival 2025 was a joyful and meaningful celebration promoting students’ overall well-being. The day began with an inspiring talk by Glenn Yong from the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), setting an uplifting tone for the event.

Students explored a variety of interactive booths organised by our Peer Support Leaders (PSLs), Cyberwellness Ambassadors, and external partners. Each booth offered engaging activities and conversations on topics such as mental health, digital wellness, and self-care encouraging students to care for their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

A big thank-you goes out to our community partners Boys’ Town, Club HEAL, Epworth, Fei Yue, Over the Rainbow, TAVA by Talent Beacon, and Unity’s Parent Support Group (PSG) for their creativity and commitment. We also thank the Yew Tee Youth Network for their invaluable partnership in bringing this carnival to life.

The event was a true reminder of the power of community, connection, and positivity with smiles, laughter, and learning that inspired every Unitian to take small, daily steps toward wellness.

Honouring Our Educators: Teachers’ Day Celebration 2025

Bringing together the efforts of the 15th Unity Council, Secondary 3 CCA Leaders, and Community Service Leaders (CSLs), the Student Leadership Development Committee (SLDC) organised a Teachers’ Day celebration on 4 September 2025 with the theme “Highlight Your Passion – Monochromatic.” The event stood as a testament to the power of student initiative and collaboration.

The celebration began with energetic performances by the school’s Symphonic Band, Dance crew, and Choir, filling the hall with music and joy. At the Appreciation Ceremony, students presented heartfelt tokens to their teachers fresh apples donated by the Heartware Network, and specially prepared goodie bags packed by CCA leaders as symbols of gratitude.

The Parent Support Group (PSG) added warmth to the day by hosting a tea session for teachers, offering a relaxed space for conversations and appreciation. The celebration concluded with classroom appreciation activities, during which CSLs guided their classmates in expressing personal messages of thanks to their Character Coaches.

More than just a celebration, this student-led initiative demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and empathy. It gave students the opportunity to show genuine appreciation for their teachers’ dedication while strengthening the spirit of unity across the school community.

Overseas Immersion Trip to Chongqing, China

From 6 to 12 November 2025, a group of Unitians took part in a 7day immersion trip to Chongqing, China, a vibrant metropolis at the meeting point of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers.

Through classroom exchanges, cultural activities, and visits to key technological and historical sites, students strengthened their communication skills and deepened their understanding of global perspectives. The trip also provided opportunities for students to practise critical thinking and adaptability as they compared Singapore’s development with that of Chongqing, and reflected on the cultural and urban differences they observed.

Exposure to Chongqing’s innovative industries and rapid urban transformation broadened their horizons and encouraged them to appreciate global progress. These meaningful experiences contributed to the students’ growth in character, leadership, and global awareness.

Graduation Day 2025: Enchanted Dreams Take Flight

The Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2025 was a heartwarming celebration filled with wonder and nostalgia. Embracing the theme “Enchanted Dreams,” the event transported students, teachers, and parents into a world where fantasy met reality, symbolising the graduates’ journey from aspiration to achievement. The ceremony featured captivating performances by Character Coaches and a touching video montage that captured the students’ most cherished moments at Unity.

Valedictorian speeches inspired both peers and teachers, while the announcement of the Unity Stars recognised outstanding student achievements. The celebration concluded on an emotional note as teachers performed the finale song, “A Million Dreams,” leaving the hall filled with smiles, tears, and heartfelt gratitude.

As our graduates move on to new beginnings, the Unity family wishes them continued success and the courage to pursue their dreams wherever they may lead.
