Research and innovation make change happen The University of Bergamo counts more than about 850 researchers (including Phd students and research fellows) involved in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research focused on innovation.

It supports dynamic cooperation with industry, private companies and the public sector to plan doctoral research projects on topics of common interest, also relying on direct funding of scholarships and activating Executive Doctorates.

8 Departments and 8 Inter-departmental Research centers cover a large variety of fields: engineering sciences, economics and management, social sciences and humanities.

The Doctoral School Established in 2013, the Doctoral School counts more than 300 faculty members (both national and international) and has taught hundreds of PhD students since its foundation.

The School fosters a vibrant research community, organises interdisciplinary courses and international networking.

Why our programs?

Admittance requires a Master’s degree or a foreign equivalent, besides qualifications in the areas specified in each Program application call.

Our phd programs offer:  A lively and supportive research environment  Access to modern laboratories, libraries, and database facilities  Connections with innovative public and private organizations  Possibility of joint supervision and Double degree within a cotutelle agreement  Opportunities of internationalization thanks to the network of collaborations with other Universities and research institutions

PhD students are encouraged to spend a research period abroad (min. non-continuous six months).

The School offers administrative support to the PhD students from admission to the degree award.

Regular Duration: 3 A.Y. for all the programs, except for Economics (4 A.Y.).
