Why Bergamo?
The University of Bergamo believes in the value of research as an engine of innovation and as a driver of change for the territorial development. Doctoral training responds to the demand for specialized personnel that comes from Italian and international companies, public administrations, research institutes, and from the Bergamo socio-economic ecosystem, which can boast one of the highest rates of employment in Europe and a constantly growing labor market.
The Doctoral School (Scuola di Alta Formazione Dottorale) was established in 2013. It counts more than 300 faculty members (both national and international) and has taught hundreds of PhD students since its foundation. The School offers administrative support to the PhD students, from the admission to the degree award, organises interdisciplinary courses, fosters international networking and supports a dynamic cooperation with industry, private companies and the public sector in the field of Doctoral education.
Innovation is the key word that distinguishes the training offer of the Doctoral School. The courses have an industrial, intersectoral, interdisciplinary nature and offer PhD students numerous opportunities to internationalize their careers, thanks to the network of international collaborations that the University of Bergamo has built with other universities and research institutions.
