VOL 1, ISSUE 3
WELCOME Welcome to the Spring issue of UA Today. The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer and the June 13th deadline for The Undergraduate Awards 2017 Programme is slowly nearing. It’s certainly been a season of growth here at UA! Not only have we welcomed University of Tennessee, Knoxville as a new Partner Institution, but we’re also delighted to introduce our new Executive Director, Dr. Brenda Cullen. Brenda has a background in Communications and Business, as well as a lifelong involvement in academia. She has lectured at UCD, Trinity and IADT and holds a PhD in Commerce. We are delighted to see how her expertise and experience will shape UA into the future. In other news, February 2nd was a memorable day in UA history, as Dublin City University played host to the inaugural UPresent: Island of Ireland. This event gave all 2016 Highly Commended Entrants and Winners from the Island of Ireland the chance to present their work and officially receive their certificates. It was also the very first regional UPresent! We hope you enjoy reading this issue of UA Today and maybe it will even inspire you to encourage someone you know to submit!

Hello everyone! My name is Duncan Cordry and I was a 2016 Highly Commended Entrant in the Philosophy category for my paper on substance causation. In the few short months since I attended the UA Global Summit, I’ve been pursuing
TNER and
a Masters in Philosophy at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. I’ve been working on a range of projects from Immanuel Kant and the history of modern philosophy to ontological difference in the works of Martin Heidegger. My
