DIVERSITY In SPECIALTY PAPERS
Security paper is a paper that incorporates features that can act to identify or authenticate a document as original, e.g. watermarks or invisible fibers in paper, or features that demonstrate tamper evidence when fraud is attempted, e g , to remove or alter print such as amounts or signatures on a cheque The security paper market size is estimated to grow to USD 16 37 Billion by 2021, at a CAGR of 6 0% from 2016 The base year considered for the study is 2015, and the market size is projected from 2016 to 2021
Cheque paper that is used with software that prints not just the usual payee, amount and date but also the headings, lines, payor, bank and MICR encoding Postage stamp paper is the foundation or substrate of the postage stamp to which the ink for the stamp's design is applied to one side and the adhesive is applied to the other The paper is not only the foundation of the stamp but it has also been incorporated into the stamp's design, has provided security against fraud and has aided in the automation of the postal delivery system.
There are two main ways of producing watermarks in paper; the dandy roll process, and the more complex cylinder mould process Dandy roll can be defined as a cylinder of wire gauze pressed on moist pulp before it starts through the rollers of a papermaking device and resulting in the production of a watermark Also called dandy roller
Holograms are a bit like photographs that never die. They're sort of "photographic ghosts", they look like three-dimensional photos that have somehow got trapped inside glass, plastic, or metal Holograms made by individuals are usually exposed on very high resolution photographic film coated with a silver halide emulsion Holograms made for mass production are exposed on a glass plate pretreated with iron oxide and then coated with photoresist The photoresist material will chemically react to the specific wavelength of light that will be used to create the hologram. Today, the most common use of holograms is in consumer products and advertising materials. Holograms can be created without visible light Ultraviolet, x-ray, and sound waves can all be used to create them Until the 1980s, holograms were a slightly wacky scientific idea Then someone found a way of printing them onto metallic film and they became an incredibly important form of security Holographic Imaging Market size was over USD 300 million in 2016, with growth forecast of over 30% CAGR from 2017 to 2024
RFID tagging is an ID system that uses small radio frequency identification devices for identification and tracking purposes An RFID tagging system includes the tag itself, a read/write device, and a host system application for data collection, processing, and transmission An RFID tag (sometimes called an RFID transponder ) consists of a chip , some memory and an antenna RFID smart labels combine a variety of inlays (each having a unique chip, bonding wire, and antenna) with a variety of printable materials to make them suitable for a wide range of applications in a wide range of environments. Bar codes are printed directly on the paper or plastic objects Bar code technology works on optics principles, whereas RFID technology works on the principle of RF waves Since the RFID tags contains memory elements and in barcodes the information is only printed in some sort of codes so the amount of information which can be stored in RFID is significantly greater than barcodes.
RFID Tags Market was valued at $4 66 billion in 2016 and is projected to reach $13 65 billion by 2024, growing at a CAGR of 14 5 % from 2017 to 2024 By type, Passive RFID, generated the highest revenue share of $3 25 billion in 2016, growing at a CAGR of 13 8% in the global RFID Market
The radio frequency identification (RFID) market has long been seen as a huge business. In the early 2000s, Walmart said that it expected to mandate RFID on all of its deliveries However, the technology wasn’t quite ready yet Today is a different story RFID has become a force in the retail space, particularly in apparel and shoes, with the potential for excellent growth in this market Meanwhile, there are plenty of other markets - healthcare and automotive, just to name two - where RFID could pick up significant business. All in all, RFID is well positioned for the coming years.

DIC and Unitika Collaborate to Develop a Specialty PPS Film with Low Dielectric Properties Suitable for Use in a Key Material for Millimeter-Wave Printed Circuit Boards and Millimeter-Wave Radar
DIC Corporation announced that it has developed a new specialty polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) film in collaboration with Japanese firm Unitika Ltd that suppresses transmission loss at high frequencies. This product’s low dielectric properties make it suitable for use in a key for millimeter-wave printed circuit boards compatible with next-generation communications devices and for millimeter-wave radar This new PPS film has already been evaluated by a number of electronics materials manufacturers and preparations are currently being made to commence commercial production
Conventional high-frequency flexible printed circuit boards used in smartphones and small electronic devices, among others, are fabricated by bonding layers of liquid crystal polymer (LCP) film and copper foil LCP creates in an uneven film–copper foil adhesive interface, a cause of higher transmission loss. Because nextgeneration communication devices use the millimeter-wave frequency band (30 to 300 GHz), they require materials with low dielectric properties, which minimize transmission loss

Pantone validation for BOBST extended color gamut (ECG) on gravure press provides ultimate stamp of quality
Color consistency Every brand owner demands it on their product packaging, and understandably so People make up their minds within seconds of their initial interactions with
products And color alone influences 85% of shoppers’ purchase decisions.[1]
Color variations suggest a lack of product quality, which can heavily impact brand identity and customer loyalty. Many brand owners say they frequently encounter color inconsistency or inaccuracy across different suppliers, and that color-related challenges and rework have a negative impact on their company.[2]
With that in mind, Extended Color Gamut, or ECG, has been a major driver of color consistency in the packaging industry in recent years, while simultaneously boosting production efficiency. ECG is a process to digitize color matching offline, thus making it stable, easy, repeatable, consistent and independent of human interpretation.

Sandon Global partners with Xsys
Sandon Global, a British anilox manufacturer, has entered a strategic partnership with pre-press specialist Xsys to combine its expertise to help flexible packaging printers achieve higher opacity whites at no additional cost
Sandon Global and Xsys collaborated in the lead-up to drupa 2024 to leverage existing and new technology to deliver improved quality that brings operational, financial and sustainable benefits for flexographic printers
In recent trials, Sandon Global’s High Volume Process (HVP) and Fluid FP anilox engravings combined with Xsys’ Woodpecker Nevis surface screening technology demonstrated that the same quality opaque white coverage could be achieved using lower volume anilox. Utilizing these technologies demonstrated a reduction in ink consumption, cost savings, more efficient operation and increased printing speed.
Paul Mitchell, regional sales manager for the UK and Ireland at Sandon Global, said: ‘White ink traditionally represents around 50 percent of a flexo printer’s ink spend and, with converters under pressure to improve quality whilst minimizing, or even reducing, costs, it made perfect sense for us to find a solution to address this challenge.

DIC
Announces Results of Joint Research with SandboxAQ and Amazon into the Application to Materials Development of High-Accuracy Quantum Chemical Calculations Performed Using HighPerformance Cloud Computing
DIC Corporation unveiled the quantum chemistry breakthroughs in next-gen materials using highperformance cloud computing with U.S.-based SandboxAQ and Amazon com, Inc
The use of computational science and technologies, notably highaccuracy quantum chemical calculations, is critical to the development of advanced materials in the chemicals industry For example, catalysts play a key role in accelerating chemical reactions and controlling selectivity, but because they contain transition metals*1 with complicated electron configurations, it is difficult to quantitatively predict catalytic activity using computational science or to accurately design catalysts at a realistic scale With the aim of resolving such issues, the Company began conducting research in collaboration with SandboxAQ and Amazon in 2022 to accurately determine the electron configurations of transition metals, including those contained in catalysts, on a molecular scale
