new business skills in the classroom. The ability to study outside of business hours is extremely beneficial for me.” Craig Madill Finance Major Investment Advisor, Acumen Capital Partners

“ One of the great things about being a U of L student is its selection of liberal education options. As a management student, I was able to participate in a fine art study tour in Paris. It was a life-changing experience.” Kevin Joseph, BMgt 2009 (General Management major)

“ Coming to U of L as a diploma transfer student, I valued small class sizes, hands-on learning and close interaction with my fellow students and teachers. None of my core marketing and management classes were comprised of more than 45 students. This enabled me to continue putting concepts into practice through group work, current case studies and relevant discussions.” Chris Courtney, BMgt 2008

solid foundation of business fundamentals. More important, you’ll learn to integrate the different functional areas and manage responsibly in a global environment. And you’ll polish the soft skills essential to success in any organization.

Student-Centred Learning At U of L, small class sizes are just the beginning. Here, you’ll enjoy opportunities to work closely with your professors, receive one-on-one assistance with program planning, and connect with industry mentors. You’ll have the flexibility to study full-time or part-time and to complete your degree on the Lethbridge, Calgary or Edmonton campus. Our Calgary and Edmonton campuses cater to the needs of working adults, and all classes are offered afternoons, evenings and weekends.

THEORY INTO PRACTICE (TIP) PROGRAMS The first in Canada, our TIP programs help you gain experience and apply theory into actual practice. You can sharpen your skills and connect with prospective employers through our extensive Co-op program, our unique Applied Consulting, Mentors and Applied Studies programs, and – on the Lethbridge campus – our exciting Integrated Management Experience (IME) program.

Robbin’s current research focuses on how stakeholders with very different ideological views collaborate to accomplish shared goals.

Roberto conducts research into the concept of social responsibility as well as the impact that corporate activities have on consumer behaviour.

Mahfooz’s main area of research involves leadership styles and how to influence others effectively.

“There is nothing so practical as a good theory. Whatever theory I teach my students, they practice in class so they can see it working. After all, they are going to be the managers of tomorrow, and they need to understand how to manage beautifully and scientifically.”

“ It is easy to assume activists and businesses hold opposing views. But it is more challenging and exciting to discover the issues and processes that bring these groups together to work toward social change.”

“ It is, to a certain degree, easy for marketers to influence public opinion. I think that power should be used not only to increase profit, but also to benefit society.”
