Some programs have added requirements or higher admission averages that must be met before we can consider admitting you to ULethbridge. (See pages 10 and 11 for Additional Program Requirements.)

Your published (final) Grade 11 grades will be used to decide conditional admission to ULethbridge. Once we get your final Grade 12 grades, we’ll review them; you’ll need to meet our admission requirements before the document deadlines.

All applicants, regardless of citizenship or country of origin, must meet the English language proficiency (ELP) requirements through recognized study or a valid standardized test score.

What if I don’t know what to study?

We know this is a lot to think about. If you aren’t sure, don’t worry; you’ll figure it out. A lot of students change their major during their time at ULethbridge.

The good thing is that you need to take classes from several subject areas to fulfill your liberal education requirements. This means that in your first year, it is almost impossible to make a mistake. It’s a great way to figure out what you like and what you’re good at.

POST-SECONDARY TRANSFER STUDENTS For admission to the University of Lethbridge as a post-secondary transfer student, most programs require an admission grade point average (GPA)* of at least 2.0 on our 4.0 scale, although some programs may be competitive.

Students who live on campus are more likely to have successful academic experiences. Your home is within a 10-minute walk from

your classes, computer labs, food services, gym facilities, the library and study spaces.

Residence Assistants Residents belong to the largest student club on campus, the Organization of Residence Students (ORS). Each floor in housing has residence assistants (RAs) who build community by coordinating events and study sessions.

They are trained in emergency response, mental health first aid and standard first aid. RAs also uphold community standards, help with roommate disagreements and will connect you to ULethbridge services.

Dining Plans Living away from home for the first time is an exciting journey; with a dining plan, you have convenient access to nutritious meals.

The best part? You won’t have to do the dishes!

Commuter (light appetite) from $4,600

Standard (hearty appetite) from $5,350.

New University students (entering from high school or one year after leaving high school) living on-campus must buy a Commuter or Standard dining plan (8-month contract). If you are extra hungry, you can add money to your plan throughout the year.

Transfer or mature students don’t have to buy a dining plan, but it’s a great choice if you don’t want to cook. You can buy an optional dining plan and have the choice to choose the Commuter Plan, Standard Plan or Sampler Plan ($2,250).

Apply for On-Campus Housing Apply early since oncampus housing is not guaranteed and is in high demand. Applications open September 15 for the following academic year.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity

Health Centre and Counselling Services

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are key values of our campus community at ULethbridge and we have an EDI office to back it up. The role of the EDI team is to create a better campus for today and the years ahead. They tackle existing barriers to build a more inclusive and supportive campus for everyone. This work begins with every community member, as we aim to ensure you feel like you belong, regardless of background, experience or story.

The University is proud to offer students access to a primary care medical clinic right on campus, including physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, mental health therapists and addictions counsellors. The Health Centre works in close collaboration with our Counselling Services to provide mental health and wellness support to ULethbridge students.

Sexual Violence Prevention Training Sexual and gender-based violence undermines our values of diversity, equity and inclusion. ULethbridge was the first university in Alberta to require mandatory sexual violence prevention training for all students. Incoming students must take a 45-minute training course before they can register in classes for their first term.

Food for Thought and Nourish ULethbridge is tackling student food insecurity head on with Food for Thought and Nourish. They coordinate food pantries across campus, fresh food boxes, campus care parcels and breakfast giveaways.

They even oversee a community garden where students can learn to grow vegetables.

Our Counselling Services team provides brief, personal counselling in-person, via private Zoom and over the phone. They also offer group counselling, self-help and peer support, wellness workshops, training and certifications to students.

Student Wellness Ambassador Program (S.W.A.P.) Developed for students, by students, SWAP promotes student engagement and wellness. The SWAP students are trained peer listeners and plan events for students to connect, feel supported and improve their overall wellness.

A few WIL opportunities Co-operative Education is a nationally recognized form of work-integrated learning that combines professional experience with academic studies to enrich students’ academic, intellectual, personal and professional development. Students alternate academic terms with paid work terms in a professional workplace.

Research opportunities are available to students starting from their first year. This separates ULethbridge from the larger institutions, where engaging in research is often only available to students in graduate programs. Faculty across the sciences, social sciences and humanities involve ULethbridge students in their research, often in paid positions.

Work2Learn | Recognizing students’ financial demands and difficulty finding part-time jobs, ULethbridge created Work2Learn. By investing in paid WIL positions in Student Affairs, students can work on campus for five to ten hours per week for a competitive hourly rate.

AWAITS Early Start Experience (ESE) You can take a liberal education course at the Lethbridge campus for full credit before the start of the Fall 2025 term. The ESE is open to all new ULethbridge students. It eases the transition from high school to university and you’ll get credit for your degree. You’ll get to know the Lethbridge campus, meet other students and your professors, and learn about our resources.

If you apply to ESE by the deadline and pay your deposits, you are guaranteed a bed in residence! Students who live off-campus can still take part in the ESE.

R.E.C. Rooms (Refresh Energize Connect)

R.E.C. Rooms are multi-site campus hubs where students can get away from the stress of studying or research to meet new people, blow off some steam and relax. There are areas for chatting or zoning out, playing VR games, puzzles, giant chess and art hives, or being active by playing Foosball and ping pong.

StartSmart Quiz This voluntary quiz is sent to incoming students on both campuses in August. It highlights your areas for growth and connects you with the ULethbridge services that will prepare you for success.
