SPRING LUNCHEON

APRIL 29, 2025 | CHICAGO

Gies College of Business Alumni Association

Dear Alumni and Friends,

On behalf of the faculty, students, and staff of Gies College of Business, I welcome you to our annual Spring Luncheon.

I am excited to attend this Spring Luncheon – my first as the 11th dean of the College. Thinking back to my installation ceremony in September, I remember the joy and excitement I felt as I looked out at the crowd of people who had come to wish me well. I was extremely grateful for their support and enthusiasm.

Since coming on as dean, I have traveled across the country, meeting with alumni and friends and talking about the strong future ahead for Gies Business. I met many fascinating people on those trips. But what struck me most was everyone’s strong support for me in this new role and for our College’s focus on education and impact.

I clearly remember stepping into a classroom my first time as a teacher. I had a strong feeling that this is what I wanted to do with my life – to make an impact on individuals’ lives and set them up for success. That feeling invigorated me then, and it stays that way now as dean of Gies Business.

On our campus, we have a lot to celebrate. Steven S. Wymer Hall is nearing completion and will be open for classes this coming fall semester. We were recently ranked #5 among public universities by Poets&Quants, and we were #3 in academic experience in that same ranking. We have never been that high in that category, and we are very proud that we were able to achieve that.

In all our efforts, the continued support of our alumni is key. We want you to share the Gies Business story with your colleagues and friends. Share your pride in our College. Our alumni are the best ambassadors we have for what we are trying to accomplish. We are tremendously grateful for you, and with you, we will continue on our trajectory.

Best wishes,
