What is Biotechnology?

Biotechnology combines subjects such as genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology with chemical engineering, information technology and robotics.

What do biotechnologists do?

A biotechnologist studies the anatomy, physiology and characteristics of living organisms and isolated biological molecules, and develops new materials for applying to a range of purposes such as pharmaceuticals and biofuels.

What kinds of industries employ biotechnologists?

Biotechnologists apply their knowledge of living organisms to a variety of industries, especially manufacturing, medical, environmental, agricultural, and food industries. An exciting relatively new field that is constantly changing, biotechnology is also being applied to problems in energy. Construction management is a professional service that uses specialized, project management techniques to oversee the planning, design, and construction of a project, from its beginning to its end. Projects might include building or retrofitting an office building or school. Other projects may involve improving infrastructure such as bridges, roads or pipe systems.

A construction manager will supervise and manage contractors and laborers at construction sites. Often they meet with architects, specialized trade employees, and civil engineers on projects or upcoming builds. They must address emergencies, work delays, or other problems that affect the construction project.

Digital Media prepares creative strategists who utilize digital technologies to facilitate human expression, communication, social interaction, and education.

What do digital media professionals do?

Using a TransMedia MarketingÂŽ mix of digital arts, science, technology, and business, digital media professionals help their clients get the right message to the right person at the right time with the right media. Those employed in digital media also use innovation, leadership, and production management skills.

Electrical power engineering technology deals with the generation, transmission and distribution of electric power.

What do electrical power engineering technologists do?

Electrical power engineering technologists work with a team to build, maintain and develop the large networks that connect power generators with users of this power (“the power grid�). They also work on a variety of power devices and on power conversion (transforming power from one form into another).

What kinds of industries employ electrical power engineering technologists?

These technologists work for power utility companies or government organizations that maintain power grids, design components for the grid, or design architectures for the grid. Recent graduates have also been employed by chemical plants and the aerospace industry.

Supply chain and logistics technology is managing (planning and executing) the flow of materials, their transformation into finished goods, and their ultimate delivery as finished goods to the final buyer.

What do supply chain and logistics technologists do?

Logisticians manage the life cycle of a product, which includes how a product is acquired, allocated and distributed. They analyze and coordinate an organization’s supply chain— the system that moves a product from supplier to consumer. Logisticians also use software to plan and track product movement.

The TLIM degree focuses on building the foundational leadership skills in technology subject matter expertise, communication, goal management, asset alignment, team organization and project supervision.
