Few things make you look chic sitting on your own in an airport, but La Cividina’s Twirl somehow manages to do it. Gone are the days of sitting exposed on a table and chair; this single sofa unites features of a desk, seat and screen, all within a private alcove.

Private space, anyplace

Twirl is a seat, a desk and a screen in one. It can serve as a cosy private alcove, realising and uncluttered vision of working environments. Everything revolves around the small support surface, which comes with electrical and USB sockets. Its slender spiral wraps around the desk and seat, acting as both backrest and partition. Available with the spiral starting on either side, Twirl can be used ergonomically by both left and right-handed people. Exquisitely finished: solid wood and marble shine a spotlight on the seat as the focal point, while also elevating the formal, sophisticated design.

Surface tension

The top of the Borgo coffee table is a thin sheet of steel with precise cuts. Its irregular shapes are inspired by the Cretto di Burri sculpture, which uses concrete blocks to mark out where the buildings of Gibellina stood before they were hit by a devastating earthquake. Strips of different shapes and sizes appear to join and overlap each other on the table’s surface, creating small gaps reminiscent of the streets in the old Sicilian town.

Lava love

The Catanian name for Mount Etna, Idda takes the outline of the volcano – wraps it with winding lava flows, and turns it upside down. Strips of sheet steel are bent by hand and form three or five overlapping layers in a sculptural creation with full, natural shapes. The soft, organic lines are enhanced by smooth welding, which reveals the outstanding technical skills of the makers and adds a delicate touch to tough, industrial materials.
