Designed with Barcelona’s ARQUITECTO-G, the nanimarquina stand at the Salone was a showcase of colour, sustainability and manufacturing transparency. Nanimarquina unveiled five glorious new products at the 2022 edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, including the showstopper: Re-Rug, a collection that emerged from the decision to use the wool leftovers generated by suppliers. The stand displayed ceiling-height piles of recycled wool to introduced these sustainable floor coverings.

I’ve never held my head as high as when I walked onto the rugs at Nanimarquina. Knowing that among 2000 stands, there’s a New Zealand influence gives you a neat feeling. New Zealand merino is used to produce some Nanimarquina rugs – and not just for function. It’s being used loud and proud. Nanimarquina’s ‘statement’ rugs and bright stall could be mistaken for an art display in the Louvre.

Handmade using the hand-loomed kilim technique, these high-density, hardwearing rugs comer in four rug sizes and four colour combinations to harmonise any space.

Colour and rhythm

The Tones collection – designed by the artist Clàudia Valsells – includes four rug models that offer a distinctive, harmonious, rhythmic, and sensitive touch, with colour as the primary tool. The collection is based on a design that invites you to live on the rug, inviting people or furniture to its centre, rather than being spectators of the piece. The collection features an infinite wealth of shades, highlighting the chromatic harmony reminiscent of musical notes.

TILES / Nani Marquina

Step by step

Tiles draws inspiration from the patterns found in the pavements of public spaces. Handloomed using the traditional Dhurrie technique from 100% recycled PET produced in India, Tiles rugs are ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, children’s rooms or outdoors, as they’re hardwearing and easy to clean, with excellent thermal properties. And by using 100% recycled PET, a material produced through the recovery and reuse of polyethylene waste, each rug minimises the impact caused by the burning of plastic bottles in India.
