Andreu World chose to launch it new collection at NeoCon in Chicago one week after Milan Design Week. And it was worth the wait – as the design house picked up six awards. However, at the well-attended DAAily bar Live Talk series, Patricia Urquiola did speak with Simon Keane-Cowell of Architonic on the eco-credentials and biomaterial innovations of the Nuez Lounge Bio armchair.

EMILY IN MILANO

Andreu World clocked me out of the Salone early and took me on a short walk through the heart of Milan and into the Brera District’s DAAily Bar. Here, we saw its newest pieces from the Nuez collection on display and in use. Talks, workshops and parties were held in DAAily Bar and anyone spotted sitting in one looked cool, comfortable and made me want to swap seats with them.

In unveiling its 2022 collections, Andreu World further demonstrated its commitment to a greener design sector, sharing how it’s reinvented its materiality and manufacturing to support circularity. New pieces by Patricia Urquiola, Philippe Starck, Benjamin Hubert and Alfredo Häberli represent progress towards sustainable furniture innovation. The brand is not only concerned with supporting wellbeing through design, but increasingly making that design more sustainable – from an environmental, social and economic point of view. Innovation in traditional techniques and craftsmanship are the hallmarks of Andreu World’s products – part of a heritage based on deep respect for those products’ natural materials.

The good wood

Bold, vibrant and inspired by the 70s and a Japanese sensibility, the Öru collection springs forth. A bold design with a striking architecture focused on three legs. The collection includes chairs, stools in two heights, with upholstered seats and solid wood back and armrests, which can also be upholstered. With the addition of a complementary table collection, the collection is ideal for residential, restaurant and hotel spaces.
