WELCOME AND DEPARTMENT UPDATE Welcome to the inaugural issue of the new University of Florida – Jacksonville Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery semi-annual newsletter. As part of the UF-Jax OMS family, we all felt it was long overdue to give you an update on our program. In the future, we will be providing you with these updates at the beginning and middle of each academic year. Please keep us up to date on any exciting news happening in your lives that we may be able to include in a future issue. Departmental Overview Over the past twenty years our department has continued to progress and grow. We now have six full-time faculty members: • • • • • •

Our major OR cases, deep sedation and clinic visit numbers continue to increase, with last year being the busiest year in the history of our department. We have performed over 1600 major OR cases per year over the past 3 years now. We have also had over 13,000 clinic visits per year over the past 2 years.
