September 15thOctober 15th is National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Hispanic Heritage is a celebration that honors the rich and diverse contributions of Hispanic and Latinx individuals to our world's history, culture, and society. It first began in 1968 when President Lyndon B. Johnson established Hispanic Heritage Week and in 1988, President Ronald Reagan expanded it to a month-long celebration.
Hispanic Heritage Month holds significant importance as it provides an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the traditions, customs, and achievements of individuals with roots in Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and Spain. The observance aims to promote cultural understanding, unity, and respect for the contributions that Hispanic and Latinx communities have made and continue to make in shaping the fabric of our society.
