Arete Awards are a way to recognize our organization’s hard work over the past year. Applications are open for all organizations until Jan. 19, 2024. All EOE statues may apply. EOE status maybe considered but not guaranteed.

UPCOMING EVENTS! IFC FIRST NIGHT SU Theater 5pm-8pm
Join the Interfraternity Council in the Recruitment Kick-Off event on January 31st at 5pm in the SU Theater followed by a Meet and Greet in the Ballroom. If you are not following IFC on Instagram, follow them for more information about chapter recruitment events. All potential new members must be registered for recruitment, to be eligible for a bid through the primary recruitment process. Find the registration links in the Instagram bio! @UConnIFC
Involvement Fair Gampel Pavilion Feb 7th 1-6pm
Student Activities will be hosting an involvement fair in Gampel so that students have an opportunity to join one or more of the 700+ organizations we have on campus. There will be a Greek Life section at the fair that your organization can sign up for as part of your Spring 2024 recruitment efforts. Check out UConntact for more information!

Black History Month
February is Black History Month! It is dedicated to recognize the achievements of African Americans. The 2024 theme is African Americans and the Arts. This years theme celebrates African American Art which is infused with the cultures of African, Caribbean, and the Black American lived experiences. Celebrating the pioneers in the fields of visual and performing arts, literature, fashion, folklore, language, film, music architecture, culinary and other forms of cultural expression. In our community we also like to recognize the History of our National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). NPHC is an organization that houses the 9 black Greek-Lettered organizations, NPHC was founded on May 10, 1930 at Howard University and then later chartered May 29th, 1992 at the University of Connecticut. These organization that are a part of the NPHC Council were founded during a period where African Americans were being denied basic human rights and privileges on their college campuses and society. Due to the campus climate of a predominantly white institutions, Black students created organization that aligned with their values, common goals, and ideals. The University of Connecticut’s campus currently has 5 NPHC organization on campus. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
Honor Societies Applications are due Jan 19th, 2024
Order of Omega Order of Omega is a leadership honor society for members of recognized fraternities and sororities that exemplify high standards in areas of scholarship, leadership, involvement within their organization and campus communities. -You must have been at UConn for 1 academic year. - Must have a GPA higher than the ALL GREEK GPA Average -$85 membership fee (includes pin, cords, and membership fees)
Rho Lambda The purpose of Rho Lambda is to honor members within the sorority community who have exhibited the highest qualities of leadership and service to their sorority community and their organization. They are sorority members who have furthered the ideals and principles of the Greek community throughout their years of sorority affiliation. -You must be a Junior or Senior -Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher -$75 membership fees (Includes pin, cords and membership fees)
Gamma Sigma Alpha Gamma Sigma Alpha is an academic recognition society for initiated members in good standing with a university-recognized fraternity or sorority. To join Gamma Sigma Alpha, you must be a Junior or Senior level student and must have a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher. -Must be a Junior or Senior -Must have a 3.5 GPA or higher -$75 membership fees (includes pin, cords and membership fees.)
