The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

We are the Faculty of Science
Your destination for curiosity-driven investigation and radical research collaboration.
Building the Future
Science is a core ingredient for solving problems. From finding new dinosaur species to advancing the frontiers of quantum computing, the Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary is where we mobilize scientific knowledge to innovate for a better world.
Our future needs more scientists. Whether it’s a startup or massive corporation, you will find people trained in science and mathematics at the centre of today’s innovation economy. And here at the Faculty of Science, our students are at the heart of it all. In chemistry labs, out in the fields of Kananaskis, and at the lens of a telescope, you’ll find students
learning the technical knowledge and building the workplace-ready skills they need to make a difference.
Get Science Done
Now is the time to join the Faculty of Science. We’re just getting started with cuttingedge research in cybersecurity, global partnerships to celebrate diversity and a Destination Science District that will elevate our impact. Be part of our community as we shape a future defined by scientific experimentation and excellence. science.ucalgary.ca

Indigenous science is the original science of the land the City of Calgary is situated on, known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot Confederacy, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina First Nation. Indigenous science is a science that embraces the human and the spirit, and builds knowledge from scientific relationships with the Land.
The Faculty of Science is on a path of transformation toward truth and reconciliation. Together on parallel paths, we are committed to learning how we can move forward in a good way.
If you are an Indigenous student, we encourage you to learn about the Faculty of Science Indigenous Pathway Program, the Writing Symbols Lodge and other opportunities and resources in the University of Calgary’s Indigenous Viewbook. ucalgary.ca/future-students/ indigenous-students Explore our programs
