TALENT STRATEGIC INITIATIVE Home to a labor force of almost 5.7 million people and hundreds of higher education institutions, Ohio continues to fuel one of its greatest assets for business: a robust, skilled, and hardworking workforce.

As the way we work evolves, JobsOhio is committed to meeting the needs of employers today and into the future.

Businesses face disruptions in technology innovations, changes in business culture, and unemployment. Yet, even when challenged, Ohioans worked harder to make the state’s economy expand. Ohioans are not only skilled; their work ethic embodies a spirit of dedication and pride rarely seen elsewhere. Ohio’s highly educated workforce is ready is to help business grow.

Building a Talent Supply JobsOhio’s talent strategy combines proactive talent attraction, talent growth and retention, company talent support, and upskilling/reskilling initiatives to set Ohio businesses up for long-term growth. Three programs make up the foundation of the strategy: Talent Acquisition Services, Find Your Ohio, and Ohio To Work. We’ve helped hundreds of companies build a plan to be ready for the generational opportunity in front of us today.

Find Your Ohio We do the job hunting.

The Find Your Ohio talent attraction program aims to drive in-demand talent to the state by matching out-of-state candidate resumes with openings at Ohio companies. In addition to broad attraction across the U.S., this program seeks to entice Ohioans who are currently living elsewhere back to the state. Since its inception, Find Your Ohio has driven thousands of qualified applicants into its recruiting platform to be considered for Ohio’s most sought-after job opportunities. In 2021, JobsOhio received over 2,300 applications, nearly triple the number from the previous year.

Talent Acquisition Services We match the right talent to the right position at the right company.

The Talent Acquisition Services program helps companies that are expanding in or are new to Ohio identify challenges and develop flexible and customizable recruitment strategies. Using a three-step approach, JobsOhio works alongside a company’s current recruiting efforts to solve talent obstacles and support its hiring goals: 1 Talent attraction, sourcing, and marketing 2 Pre-screening and assessments 3 Training In the past three years, JobsOhio expanded the program from servicing 50 companies to now over 80, while hiring and onboarding new team members.

Ohio To Work has over 100 employers committed to hiring job seekers and 20+ training providers giving workforce-aligned training solutions.

First launched in Cleveland in 2020 as a pilot initiative, the program was designed to increase income and quality of life for those seeking employment. Ohio To Work has impacted thousands of Ohio job seekers. Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and JobsOhio expanded the initiative in 2021 into Columbus, Toledo, Cincinnati, Dayton, and the Mahoning Valley because of its success in creating career pathways for Ohioans.

Ohio Talent: Shaping the Future of Global Healthcare A rise in chronic disease, an aging population, and a global pandemic have created an accelerated need for medications and triggered an urgency for innovative solutions.

Biotech leader Amgen reaches millions of patients around the world and recognizes the need for its medicines are much greater. To serve more people, Amgen chose to deepen its global footprint with a greenfield facility in New Albany, Ohio.

Hello, Amgen.

Founded in 1980, Amgen develops human therapeutics for serious illnesses. With groundbreaking brands like Enbrel and Otezla, the company delivers products to over 100 countries. To support rising demand, Amgen broke ground on a new 270,000-square-foot facility in central Ohio. The New Albany plant will employ Amgen’s most advanced digital automation technology and tackle the last manufacturing steps for U.S.-bound injectables. Set to be fully operational by 2024, the manufacturing facility will bring 400 jobs to the state and focus on the assembly and packaging of vials and syringes.

Amgen, which pioneered the use of recombinant DNA technology four decades ago, was recently named one of the World’s 25 Best Workplaces™

by Fortune. Amgen strategically chose to build in the Columbus Region, an area with a growing reputation for talent and anchored by acclaimed research institutions like The Ohio State University.

The location is key for sourcing knowledgeable talent and providing skilled, local support.

Today, thanks to a collaborative effort with One Columbus, the city of New Albany, and the Ohio Development Services Agency, Ohio continues to demonstrate its critical role in the healthcare global supply chain network.

Amgen is co-developing an internship program with The Ohio State University.

With hundreds of colleges, universities, and trade schools across the state, Ohio has a strong and diverse talent pipeline.

Ohio’s diverse talent pool supports Amgen’s participation as a founding member of OneTen, a coalition of many of the world’s largest, best-known companies that aims to hire one million Black Americans into well-paying jobs over the next 10 years.

Ohio’s Innovation Districts will mint over 30,000 STEM graduates, primed for positions in healthcare, tech, and life sciences.
