TEAM UNITED MAHARLIKA FOUNDATION INC. Team United Maharlika Foundation Inc., or TUMFI, was conceived and organized by a group of community leaders whose goals and objectives were to make changes and practices to reflect the ideals and true process of democracy and entrepreneurship. On its evolution, it has become one of the most active organizations in the Filipino American community in the United States of America from its inception in September 2011. In 2012, TUMFI launched a program Calamities for Charities and collaborated with other organizations and entities for its advocacy on medical, surgical and dental missions in the Philippines. It has distributed cash; relief goods and foods to those affected by calamities and conducted humanitarian and charitable works in the Philippines and in the US. In 2014, TUMFI launched another program, The Overseas Foreign Workers Award, to recognize nationals from different countries who continue to be the movers, supporters and proponents to their originating motherland. In 2015, TUMFI added The Maharlika Award in their Gala to recognize individuals born within and outside of the United States who continue in working and helping their local communities. THE OUTSTANDING OVERSEAS FOREIGN WORKERS The Outstanding Overseas Foreign Workers program was launched in 2014 with the purpose of recognizing the people born outside of the United States, excel in their fields of endeavor and has made vital contributions to their country of origin and in the United States of America through their charitable and humanitarian works. In selecting the awardees, there is a nomination process, discussion by the awards committee, and selection of an individual per category. After which, the awards committee chairman will make the proper endorsements to the executive board for final approval. THE MAHARLIKA AWARD The MAHARLIKA Award is given to individuals, couples and organizations who continue to work to the best of their capacity to help those who are in most need. And oftentimes, their willingness to help knows no bounds. In the Philippines, these individuals are regarded very highly and are considered as the “noble ones. AMBASSADOR OF GOODWILL The Ambassador of Goodwill of Team United Maharlika Foundation, Inc. serves as the face of the organization for the year. She represents the TUMFI even in streamers and flyers. TEAM UNITED MAHARLIKA FOUNDATION INC. – SEPTEMBER 16. 2018

Dear Friends: Giving back to the community through service to our fellow human beings especially in the Philippines and collaborating with other organizations during calamities, Team United Maharlika Fouindation, Inc. has been doing these for the past 7 years. Medical, Dental & Surgical missions in Cagayan De Oro City; Tubod, Lanao del Norte; La Castellana, Negros Occidental; Iloilo City; Zarraga, Iloilo Province, Biak na Bato, La Castellana and just recently Marawi City and Bubong, Lanao del Sur with cooperation of Ladies for Rizal, Metropolitan Chapter. Our volunteers did an excellent job in helping the approximately 1,500 recipients. All of those Medical, Dental & Surgical missions were made possible by people like YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. This year, as we honor our Awardees and our Ambassador of Goodwill, please join us in congratulating them for the contributions they had made for and in the community, they belong. In their own little ways, they have made the difference in alleviating the lives of their fellow human beings. With pride, we will present them to you and you will agree with us that they deserve the recognition and the awards to be given them like our previous honorees in their respective fields of endeavor. My heartfelt congratulations and my privilege and honor to present to the awards as part of our 7 th Founding Anniversary and awarding gala. Our TEAM, the Team United Maharlika Foundation, Inc., represented by the Board of Trustees, who work tirelessly for the community, you, of all people, deserve the accolades and the recognition but you continue to work silently and excellently. MESSAGES FROM THE BOARD

TEAM UNITED MAHARLIKA FOUNDATION INC. – SEPTEMBER 16. 2018

Dear Friends, We are proud to present The Outstanding Overseas Workers and “Maharlika” recipients for 2018. This could not have taken place without your support and participation. Your generous financial contributions and most of all your trust and confidence in our leadership have made it all happened. 2018 was great year for our organization, we were able to conduct programs to empower our members by taking part in many fundraising programs in collaboration with many community organization partners. The most outstanding experience I had this year was the opportunity to serve the people in Marawi who are directly affected by conflict and war. We saw the destruction during our stay but we also witnessed the resiliency of our Muslim brethren. I can really testify the words from my late pastor Rev. Sun Myung Moon. He said, when he was still alive, that “war is the most primitive way of resolving conflict”. And I am glad that through our collaborative efforts, we were able to bring incredible joy and happiness to the people of Marawi through our medical, surgical and optical mission and distribution of gifts to women and children. The people of “Marawi” experienced the love of the OFW (Overseas Foreign Workers) from America through that gesture of living for the sake of others. Through our projects and programs, we wish to continue our strong partnership with you and it is with hope that we can create a Filipino community that is empowered through the practice of “bayanihan”.

MESSAGES FROM THE BOARD

TEAM UNITED MAHARLIKA FOUNDATION INC. – SEPTEMBER 16. 2018

It’s a pleasure to welcome you today to the 5th Outstanding Foreign Workers Awards & 7th Founding Anniversary of the Team United Maharlika Foundation, Inc. As the Chairman of the Awardee Committee, I wish to inform you that the crops of awardees are competitive, substantial, very upgrading, enhancing and worthy of emulation. Their resumes or bio data are so inspiring, they are all full of dedication, integrity and indisputable expertise. Every awardee has story to tell and she/he is the hero of her/his own story. All we have to do is appreciate and recognize their outstanding accomplishments. I salute all the 2018 Outstanding Foreign Workers and accept my warmest congratulations. As a delegate to the several medical and dental missions conducted by the TUMFI, I am so proud that we have maximized the services we have rendered to depressed areas in the Philippines. Last year was in Marawi, with the Ladies for Rizal Metropolitan Chapter New York of which I am the president, we rendered the mission in one of the crisis areas of Marawi. We first hand saw the tragic effects of the war and the living condition of the people. We did our best to give them what we can afford but there is no enough for people who are in dire need of the basic necessities in life. Next year, the medical and dental mission will be in Zamboanga. To spearhead such project, we need your cooperation and support, people like you are the best instruments to make changes in the lives of the needy without expecting any reward from them. Your presence today and your donation will go a long way for you share in the journey of so many people way back home. Thank you for that but we encourage more of your kind to help us in this project. With much respect and admiration, I offer you our best wishes and “Thank You”.

TEAM UNITED MAHARLIKA FOUNDATION, INC. OTHER ANNUAL PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS THE SUMMER THEMED EVENTS “Touch of Gold," "White Party. Name it what you

want. But, we always ask ourselves: By what method would we be able to have an incredible time while encouraging solid, real bonds between individuals who cooperate? Call it perfect spot, correct time, or perhaps simply the right blend of diligent work and good fortune; yet, things always take off pretty fun and easy once the burst of sunshine starts to paint the summer skies with its golden dusts! And our TEAM UNITED family is always ready to favor each one with the heavenly company and delicious comestibles!

CHRISTMAS CAROLING

Caroling is a big part of the Filipino Christmas celebration. Once the dawn mass known as "Misa de Gallo" or "Simbang Gabi" begins, choralists will be on their feet singing Christmas hymns from house to house, spreading the joyous spirit of the season through tunes. Here in the U.S., our TEAM UNITED family tries to emulate the same celebration. During the Yuletide season, we gather our members to avail their leisure time and indulge in singing Christmas carols. We gather the monetary donations and put to use towards our yearly activities, for Missions in the Philippines, and other charitable causes that we support. In this manner, we also engage families, especially kids, to experience "caroling" the way we do it back home. This event is a joyous occasion for both children and adults.

CHARITIES FOR CALAMITIES

KARAOKE FOR A CAUSE

Charities for Calamities is the event and arm of Team United Maharlika Foundation, Inc. that is automatically activated in the event that there is a calamity, like typhoon, hurricane and the likes that create havoc in a particular community here in the US or in the Philippines. TUMFI worked silently collecting usable items including canned foods, used clothings, toiletries, furnitures and cookwares, etc. Since its inception, Charities for Calamities had facilitated more than 75 boxes to the Philippines during Sendong, Yolanda and Ondoy just to mention a few. We also organized also a caravan of 7 SUVs to bring help to those affecated by Hurrican Sandy here in New York.

The primary thing to remember is that it doesn't make a difference whether you can actually sing or not. This is not about showing one's ability, but about having utter confidence. Singing louder makes it simpler, strangely. Additionally, you can't sing karaoke incidentally. You can utilize a senseless voice all you want, yet you've picked your tune since something about it addresses you. Singing karaoke just likens one to euphoria! In any case, whether we do it for fun or not, we do it because we have goals we want to achieve--- and that's to raise funds for the causes we support. More importantly, this activity encourages each one to take part, regardless that singing is their best talent or not. The involvement is what matters, the collective effort to attain that which is for the good of humanity, the amalgamation of different individuals with a common intention.

ANNUAL MEDICAL AND DENTAL MISSIONS

Since 2011, as a newly formed organization, Team United Maharlika Foundation, Inc. started to do medical, dental & surgical missions in the Philippines and distributed care packages to the needy. Cagayan de Oro City was the first recipient when we distributed cash to the more than 400 families affected by Sendong and the flash flood that came with it, and then Tubod & Kolambogan, Lanao del Norte; La Castellana, Negros Occidental; Brgy. Libertad, Iloilo City; and then Zarraga, Iloilo Province, Brgy. Biak Na Bato, La Castellana; Bungahin, Isabela, Negros Occidental and ost recently Marawi City and Bubong, Lanao del Sur. We will add to our list for next, Brgy. Tumaga, Zamboanga City.

Mrs. Imelda Hornada Callejo Awardee for Child Caregiving

The most trusted individual in every family is the person who takes care of their children. Nilda Salvo Miranda

Awardee for Adult Caregiving Nilda Salvo Miranda was travelling all the time prior to coming to USA. She worked in Dubai from 1986 to 1994 where she had a chance to go to Singapore and Indonesia with her employers. After that time her employer moved to United States where she also moved with them. Since the children have grown and matured they do not need a baby sitter anymore so Nilda changed her job from baby diaper changing to elderly protection changing which according to her are two different jobs although both involves serious caring, loving and sharing. Nilda had a very unique experience as an elderly care giver. She was requested to take care of the father of her employer believed to be a dying man. They were preparing for his last moment but Nilda realizing that the dying man needs nutritious food and proper care started to serve him good food, excellent care, prayers and tender touch and the dying man became strong, healthy and still survive for a long time. Nilda is a miracle worker because of her personal assets are her being respectful, honest, hard- working and her strong sense of humor. Her elderly employers enjoy her jokes and perspectives in life that they forget the rapid passing of time that they fell that without Nilda it is already the end of the world. This is the true essence of life for caregivers that most often they develop a deep relationship with the persons they care, they feel lonely if they become ill, they feel sad if they lost them, they feel happy if their employer treats them as humans and they are grateful if they are compensated fairly. Elderly care providers are the persons who are close to the persons who are in the twilight of their lives, spend the precious time of their last journey in life and they are the persons closest to God for their daily prayers for extending the lives of the persons they are serving. Nilda was born in Polangui, Albay, a mother of four children, three in the Philippines and one in Boston and a grandmother of 5 kids whom she adores so much that one day she will be able to see and visit them. She is the charming wife of Larry Miranda from Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Although Nilda has not come home for a certain period of time she religiously supports her children and relatives. She helps them financially and morally that she also extends it to the community and to the church sending relief goods, medicine and school supplies especially during calamity season. She also offers her house in Sta. Rosa to some friends who would like to stay while on vacation in the Philippines. To Nilda Salvo Miranda may you tribe increase!

PACCAL PAN AMERICAN CONCERNED CITIZENS ACTION LEAGUE Maharlika Honoree - Organization

Pan American Concerned Citizens Action League, Inc. (PACCAL) is a 501(c3) non-profit organization and holds the distinction of being the only Asian provider Agency recognized by the Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Office on Aging. Standing in the 1970s, there was an influx of Filipino immigrants to the State of New Jersey and because of proximity to New York City, Jersey City attracted many new immigrants. In fact, in the early 1990s, Jersey City has the largest concentration of Filipinos in the State of New Jersey. Filipino professionals in various fields of education, medical, engineering, business, and other professionals started calling Jersey City home thereby contributing to the economic renaissance of Jersey City. Filipinos started organizing the community but while there were numerous Filipino organizations in Hudson County most of them are focused on helping the Philippines. Linda Mayo, the first Asian elected official in Hudson County and former Jersey City Deputy Mayor recognized the need for a culturally competent non-profit organization. Linda Mayo pioneered the founding of PACCAL with the help of a group of World War II veterans headed by the late Sir Col, Mariano S. Aureus. Linda Mayo held the position of PACCAL, president for twelve years and since then became the Executive Director implementing programs and services. Linda Mayo is also the founder and former president of the Ladies for Rizal, Inc., New Jersey Chapter, USA an official affiliate of the “Kababaihang Rizalista, Inc.,” an international organization with headquarters based in the Philippines. The first issue tackled by PACCAL is housing for Filipino seniors. They helped seniors in the process of applying in different Jersey City Senior Housing buildings. The first successful applicants PACCAL helped in Harborview Senior housing were WWII veterans and through them other Filipinos followed suit. PACCAL was the first support group of PAVO, Inc. in its fight for equity and continues to help the veterans up to the present day. Next project was voters’ registration and citizenship drive to empower the Filipino community. PACCAL also is very proud that when Sir Dennis Hayes was the Director of the Jersey City Public Library, together with Lady Linda Mayo, they worked from 1994 - 1996 to build a collection of 500 Philippine books in the Jersey City Public Libraries. The collection ranges from current form of government and economy to history, culture, arts, and heritage. PACCAL Neighborhood Center has been a haven for Filipinos in Jersey City needing information and referrals to City & County government services as well as other provider service agencies. Some of the services are information and referrals on senior entitlements; referrals to affordable medical check-ups and health services; social and recreational activities for seniors; youth classes on Philippine history, values & culture, and folk arts programs; substance abuse education & prevention; domestic violence prevention; educational forums and workshops or youth and family. PACCAL has also helped many Filipino women who are victims of domestic violence.
