The Blameless Tripartition

The tripartite composition of man is fundamental to understanding his whole being, and pivotal in his relationship with God and every other creation. Created for fellowship, and overseer of other creatures, man is the only creature that shares semblance with the creator.Genesis 1:27 gave a clear description that Man has dominion over every other creature - in the image, and after the likeness of God was Man made. John 4:24 described the very nature of God- He is a Spirit- and if he is, the man made in his image is nothing less of a spirit. Man is thus fundamentally, a spirit.Since God did not create a robot who will always do the biddings of his maker, man was made to have a soul- the seat of man’s will, intellect, and emotion. Man was made to be a freewill agent. This implies that man can make independent decisions, has the ability to think, and can choose as he wills. Thus, the first Adam was a living soul (Gen 2:7; 1 Cor. 15:46.)Now, created to have physical influence, to be in charge of every other creature, man was made to have a component with which he can relate with

the physical world. Thus, made from the dust of the earth, a body was given to house the first two components of man. Thus, man is a spirit, he has a soul, and lives in the body. With the spirit, he has contact with the Spirit realm, and was designed to primarily relate with God therewith. With the soul, he has the ability to independently make free will choices, and with the body, he has the ability to contact the physical world. This was man’s modus operandi before his fall in Genesis 3.

Man was created to relate with God primarily with the core of his being, His Spirit. His spirit takes pre-eminence in his relationship with every other being. That is, man’s soul and his body were subject to the dictate of his spirit. The chain of command was from the Spirit to his soul, and then to his body. The soul(Mind) being in the middle is subject to being led by the spirit, or by the body (environmental factor). The mind (soul) is led by the spirit, it brings life, but when it is led by the flesh, it brings death (Rom 8:6).

Our body is kept blameless by abstaining from all forms of (sexual) impurities and all conceived thoughts that come from the heart. For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh

This explains the concept of death God referred to when he gave Adam the command not to eat of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen 2:16-17). The disobedience of Adam resulted in the man’s spirit dying, and losing its initial designed effect on the soul, and the body. So man’s disobedience in Genesis 3 resulted in his death- the death not initially of his body, but of his spirit, his real self (Eph 2:1-2, Col 2:13).

The will of God at creation is that our Body, Soul and Spirit will be kept blameless by God. 2 Cor. 7:1 spoke about our response to God’s promises for us in 2nd Cor. 6:17-18, which is to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. This implies that our flesh (body), and Spirit can be contaminated with filth, and it is our responsibility to cleanse ourselves to remain pure and blameless.

How can this be achieved? How can our triune component be sanctified? Let us first examine the meaning of the word sanctify. It means to keep pure, to make holy, to separate for a sacred and holy use. Thus, the will of God according to scripture is that our body, soul, and spirit be for a pure use.

Our body is kept blameless by abstaining from all forms of (sexual) impurities and all conceived thoughts that come from the heart. For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. We were admonished in 1st Cor. 6:8 to flee fornication for it is sinning against our very own body. Ephesians 5:3 said fornication and all forms of uncleanness must not be named among believers, even once. In 1 Thess. 4:3-7, the sanctification of our body was stated as the will of God.

Our Soul is kept pure by renewal in the word of God (John 17:17, Romans 12:2). Our Spirit however, is sanctified by union with the Lord through our adoption.

Because man is in the image and the likeness of God, he is a spirit and by intimacy with the Holy Spirit, he is sanctified continuously as he fellowship with the Holy Spirit (2nd Cor 3:18). There is the need for the sanctification ongoing on the inside of man to be manifested on the outside so that all he does and touches will be sanctified and be pleasing to God.

This is where the matter of the soul being broken for the release of the Spirit comes to play. Before the word can continue to sanctify the soul, the sin nature in it must be rendered dead by the cross (Romans 6:1-7). This must happen because the fallen nature has no capacity to obey the words of God. The bible says it cannot(Romans 8:7). Therefore, the first flow of the sanctifying power affects the soul by an encounter with the cross through Spirit. Thus the man of sin, the sin principle, the sin nature in the soul is dealt with and man is free to say yes to the word of God and no to sin and Satan.

From the foregoing, the body is the showscreen of all the activities in man’s spirit and soul.

Thus, he manifests a sanctified life in practical holy living because the tree has been made good and the fruit has become good (Matthew 12:3335).

This act of sanctification comes from God through the Holy Spirit.

It is not by legalism. He that called us is faithful and He will do it (1st Thessalonians 5:23-24) SHALOM.

EXCELLENT The SPIRIT

The world population according to the US Census Bureau reads about 7.8 billion people, with Nigeria being the 7th most populated nation globally. Unfortunately, there are limited resources to go round this increasing population.

You would agree that everybody is trying to get the best out of life even with the limited resources available. It is therefore, wise for anybody who wants to get the best out of the earth to connect to a source higher than the world and the earth.

Anyone who lives life without a superior connection will soon burn out his or her strength.

The life of Daniel creates a model for us to study in order to glean wisdom for these times. Let’s take a look into the introductory part of Daniel’s life; and to consider his early life. One of the things that stood Daniel out and gained him possession of the excellent spirit was the sacrifice he made.

Daniel purposed in his heart that he

would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with wine which he drank. Daniel sacrificed the king’s variety of delicacies; royal food; and satisfactory pleasure so as to lay hold of this excellent spirit (Daniel 1:8).

Know this: Anybody that must possess the excellent spirit that is able to distinguish one in any landscape must be ready to do away with royal food and wine, be ready to make sacrifices.

For the purpose of this article, some emphasis will be given to academics, however the lessons are applicable to all areas of life.

As a student, the King’s portion could be partying, clubbing, unnecessary activities, and even excessive fellowship activities (fellowship after fellowship). These engagements could rob a child of God of a First Class Degree. Always bear in mind that spirituality is no excuse for mediocrity. As much as the excellent spirit is a supernatural endowment from

God, a man also has his part to play before it can be bestowed upon him. A lifestyle and culture of excellence must be nurtured, cultivated and imbibed. Never settle for average results and consistently build yourself to become better in all you find to do.

God is a miracle worker and not a magician. Blessed biros, pencils, handkerchiefs and other materials are never a way to success. If unbelievers who do not observe prayers, fasting, vigils, gift of faith, laying on of hands etc can be best students in our departments; then it is time we asked ourselves sincere questions.

The truth is that anyone who is studious with his academics will pass regardless of the position he or she holds in the fellowship or in the department.

There are certain principles of life and these principles are no respecters of persons. If we must be all God wants us to be, then we must do away with religion and syncretism.

Service to God while on campus and beyond is expedient but we must be balanced.

You are first, a student before a man of God on campus. Jesus wants to be Lord as you become the best graduating student and not just in the corner of your fellowship.

You are the Salt of the Earth and not of your fellowship; the light of the world and not of your campus. Think beyond the present and manifest excellence as a Child of God.

Take time to be serious with God and with your academics. God wishes for His children to prosper in all things; including your academics. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 1: 2).

By destiny and because of the finished works of Christ, Christians are supposed to be very successful in all aspects of their lives. Daniel may not have had access to the finished works of Christ yet he enjoyed access to the excellent spirit, how much more we who are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

There are certain principles of life and these principles are no respecters of persons. If we must be all God wants us to be, then we must do away with religion and

Christians have the Spirit that gives an advantage: hence we can comprehend beyond the normal at the frequency of the Spirit. For we have an unction from the Holy One, and we know all things (1st John 2:20).

We must not take this privilege for granted neither must we mishandle the advantage nor disgrace the unction. Let us harness all of these privileges knowing that there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth him understanding (Job 32:8).

May God cause us to shine, to prosper and to be exceedingly excellent in all our paths. Amen.

The Narrow Path

Glory be to Jesus the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the earth from and with whom all wisdom dwells. No man takes this honor upon himself. All the glory, honor, and adoration be unto the Father of Lights with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning….

By way of introduction, the chapter 7 of Matthew’s account of Jesus’s earthly walk is a spillover of the teaching that commenced on the mount commonly called The Beatitudes. Jesus began to bring accurate perception to the matters of the kingdom and said in Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.”These verses of the chapter point out two striking realities which are: The Gate and the Way to Life.

The word translated life is the word for Zoe in the Greek language: the God kind of Life.

The word life as revealed here does not refer to the period of birth to death, or the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body. The word Zoe is the very life of God; the God kind of Life, the very essence and fullness of the Glory of the Father of Light

The word narrow does not relate to entrance into God, because it’s the desire of God that all men be saved. The word narrow as related to accessing the very essence of the Father of Light, reveals the discipline, scrutiny and self-denial it takes to access possibilities in God as one’s admittance into Christ is not the end in itself. It’s to the end

that men become conduits of divine possibilities enshrined in Christ Jesus. A man’s admittance into Christ is one phase, the walking in Christ, another and the outworking of Christ in a man’s life, another phase until the life of the Father becomes evidential.

Apostle Paul speaking said in Acts 17:28 that “For in Him whom we live, we move and have all our being.”The path of life is narrow, shows a kingdom reality and principle established even before the foundation of the earth in that “there is a path the Lion’s whelp has not trodden, the eyes of the vulture has not seen, the fierce Lion has not walked by it, even fowl of the air know it not.”(Job 28: 7-8)

The path of life is locked up in depths, realms and dimensions that only opens up by scrutiny and track records of selfless and consecrated life. No one stumbles into it by mistake, it’s deliberately and intentionally engaged. The need to perpetually walk in the NARROW path of light is predicated upon a life of perpetual scrutiny and total yieldedness to the lordship of Christ. Apostle Paul said But I keep under my body and bring it into subjection that after I have preached the Gospel, I myself should be a cast away because the path of life is narrow.Conclusively, are you born again? Is your life surrendered yet unto the lover of your soul? Do you know the one, who for the sake of your sins, became sin for both you and I that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus? You cannot afford to live a reckless and careless life. The Father calls you this day. Do not turn deaf ears.

Are you already saved by the blood of the lamb? It is to the end that you live for him. It takes a dead man to carry GOD. There is a protocol to Christian living. You cannot afford to live a perverse life and continually live a displeasing life unto the Father for everyone who bears the name of the Lord must depart from iniquity.

The Grace of God has appeared unto all men teaching us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts.

It is my prayer that you are helped of the LORD to remain ever steadfast in Him.

The Exclusive

with Pst. Lawrence Oyor

Pastor Lawrence Oyor is a powerful Nigerian minister of the gospel, known for his deep spiritual songs, chants, seamless manifestation of spiritual gifts and love for the younger generation. Unknown to many, Pastor Lawrence is a product of process and in this exclusive, we’d run through his background, early life, salvation story and spiritual growth. Emphasis will be laid on his stand as regards followership to God and discipleship.Pastor Lawrence Oyor was born on June 16th in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria as a twin to Reverend Patience and Reverend Gomba Fortune Oyor who were the overseers of the ministry: God Chosen Ministry Kingdom Assembly. Apart from Lawrence and Godswill, his twin, His parents also birthed Michael and Wisdom Oyor. Pastor Lawrence Oyor therefore has three siblings. He is married to Darasimi Bamiloye Oyor and they have two wonderful children.Born into a Christian home, young Lawrence was raised to always take up leadership roles.Due to this, he always went out of his way to take up service roles. Unfortunately, the devil sought to use this advantage as a medium of planting pride in the heart of the young man as he grew in consecration and power levels..

Pastor Lawrence’s born again experience is peculiar as it happened a lot of time. Although he holds on to the encounter at 11, One experience stands out as fuel for his passion of living for Christ. Now when he was in secondary school, he met a friend who had been born again since he was 4. Young Lawrence often felt bothered by the dimensions this friend walked in. Under this friend’s ministration, Pastor Lawrence reports that he gave his life to Christ a couple of times.

Another exceptional thing happened with that friend of his. Here’s an account from the mouth of Pastor Lawrence himself:

That day he said JESUS told him to stretch forth his hand and those who were sick should come and touch his hand and they would be healed. So I was like, what if it doesn’t happen? I watched people touch him and all manner of diverse miracles happened. That

night, I went to my room crying, that Jesus doesn’t know me, that He loves my friend more than me. It saddened my heart. I just felt so jealous and frustrated. Why is my life not like a child of God, like I don’t exist, you know? On that day, Jesus gave the words of the scripture. I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me - Proverbs 8:17.The Holy Spirit was just showing me that there’s God’s love for everybody, Unquestionable: That was what drove him to die on the cross for us. He loves all of us. But Experiential love, that thing that makes you look like you are different from everyone else, is the product of our yielding to that love, receiving that love.

So this young man had been giving himself in response to the love of God and his life looked so much like God that it looked like God loved him more than me. God showed me his life and my own life.Twice every week, I was eating his food and he was fasting. I couldn’t forget it! I ate his food every Monday and Wednesday. I was happy he was fasting, because I could have his own food as extra and I was complaining that God was real to him. So it was really not God’s fault. The day you start responding, you will journey from a place of uncertainty to a place of conviction in the word of God. So that’s basically what my story was. Following this, Lawrence gained admission into the University of Ibadan where he bagged his LLB. His entrance was one that was of great benefit to the Kingdom as He was already

moving miraculously and setting people free from demonic activities. However, during his university days, he had struggles keeping up academically and this would get Young Lawrence depressed afterwards as life after school started showing that the physical had laws of diligence governing it. He learnt this hard as he continued to minister to men in pain and hurt for two years.During the second year, God planned meetings and planted words in people’s mouths to save Lawrence from his growing depression, one of whom was His late Father. During a father-son conversation, Lawrence blurted out that there was nothing to dance about and this step of acceptance transcended into other encounters, One in which God gave Lawrence a song: I bless you Lord, you are Holy and forever, you are God. Afterwards, Young Lawrence learnt to be excellent in physical things even as he did spiritual things excellently and the anointing did bring favour.Pastor Lawrence had to be broken several times, mainly in terms of pride. He once recounted the story of an event that took place during his time at the Texas Bible Institute in Texas, United States of America.

As a student at the Bible Institute, he was asked to sweep a large hall as part of his chores. He felt humiliated being asked to do such a menial task without any regard for his status as a “Man of God” (MOG) in Nigeria. After attending a meeting where God pointed out the pride in his heart, Pst Lawrence committed to serving and submitted himself to the leaders over him. He started honouring all people, regardless of their title or position, and embraced servanthood as a lifestyle,

seeking to serve without pretense or seeking recognition.Pastor Lawrence always was an advocate of time efficiency. His hunger for God fueled this passion and caused him to be on the lookout for knowledge from fathers. Due to this, he gained a lot of experiences from various fathers in the body of Christ, home and abroad, except one, his biological father. At later times, realisation hit him and he began to not only respect as a son but do more by honouring him as an anointed man of God.Pastor Lawrence learnt over time that he gained insights through the fathers but many youths lacked this which he had and so he desired to pour out this knowledge. When he finally heeded the call of God to start Davidic Generation Church(DGC), this was one of the goals. He began to mentor young men. But even in school, Pastor Lawrence had helped many students like himself grow. He, in turn, got brothers and friends like Jonathan as gifts from God.We were thrilled to speak with

one of them, Pastor Israel Olaniyan who was also studying Law at the time. Pastor Israel Olaniyan was Pastor Lawrence’s assistant for a long while and the head of protocol of the ministry. Many might not know him but that’s how backends are. Pastor Lawrence’s influence helped raise diligent backenders who have for long, diligently served the body of Christ, home and abroad. This is the result of one man’s yield to God, fellowship and discipleship. It brought about deeper levels of dependence and joy in God, compassion and time gain. God has his part to play and we as men have our parts to play. Whoever chooses to follow God in all his dealings with him will grow and never lose, not his soul or purpose.

My offsprings are benefactors of this divinity, I house no impunity, unchastity, crudity and I’ll worship the trinity till eternity.

Inten tional Living

This is one of the aspects in life that men could get wrong. This is because our response to some questions determine our attitude towards that which we are doing presently.

As students, we can easily answer the question; why did I come to the university? Our response would be to bag a degree (with a good grade, of course).

As workers, we can answer the question; why did you choose to work in this field and in this particular firm or company? Our response would be, to earn a living or “I have passion for the discipline”.

We could even answer the question; why did you choose that woman/man as your wife/husband? to continue a lineage, or for love. But have we ever asked ourselves the questions; why do I go to Sunday services? Why do I attend the bible studies? Why do I attend prayer meetings? Why do I even engage in personal study? Why do I observe my quiet time? Even so, why do I want to be involved

I beseech us that we have a distinct reason for coming to Christ which is to know Him better and not because of those things we want to collect from Him

in evangelism? Or, why do I desire some spiritual gifts? If our reason for coming to church on Sunday is because, that day is set aside to observe services in church. We would be right. Our reason for coming to bible study could be that we want to learn something from the bible or I want to know the latest rhema in the scripture. Maybe we have a good reason not to miss bible study. One could prove that our reason for not missing prayer meetings is that we may make our request known to God. This as well has every chance of being a good reason for being a consistent member in the prayer unit. Our reason for engaging in personal bible studies and quiet time could be so that we have enough bible references to back up or support our stand when we engage in bible discussions or even when we preach or teach. This might be a cogent reason, at least, to defend the gospel when the time comes. Our reason for getting involved in evangelism could be to win souls for Christ. This could be a perfect reason. It was, in fact, Christ’s commandment on His departure from the earth after His death.

WHY
HAVE YOU COME?

Our reason why we desire some spiritual gifts could be because we want to see or know beyond what an ordinary man can see or know. But could all of these reasons be good enough for doing the aforementioned activities? What happens when we are in an environment where there is no church to attend? What if after all our personal studies and quiet times, there is no platform to express all that we’ve learnt? What if our prayers were not answered at the time we wanted answers to them? What if all our attempts to convert a sinner proved to be abortive? or our bible study teacher did not give us depth or rhema as we usually claim, in the study. Does that mean that we will stop being a Christian?

Now the question is, what is the primary purpose of Christianity? This has been the reason why many of us Christians have trivialized our adoption in Christ. Maybe few scriptures will give us a direction to getting our purpose in Christianity. A popular saying goes thus “when the purpose of a thing or course is not known, abuse is inevitable”. So, have you come into the fold because you want spiritual gifts, riches, power, success,

fame or so that you can mount the pulpit and become a world renowned preacher? You are sincerely at the right place, in fact you had all these and more even before you came in. All are yours but please calm down and learn about the One that has everything in His possession. He desires that all become Him. Let Him teach you about Himself through His Spirit. Attend meetings, not to accumulate knowledge on scripture but rather,

What happens when we are in an environment where there is no church to attend? What if after all our personal studies and quiet times, there is no platform to express all that we’ve learnt?

that Christ be revealed. Pray not only because you want your problems solved but that you may know Christ. Attend services not because it is a normal practice in your home but because you want to meet with Christ through the service.

I beseech us that we have a distinct reason for coming to Christ which is to know Him better and not because of those things we want to collect from Him alone. He desires to teach us about Himself. At the end of it all, it is only those

that are like Him, those that have learnt Christ, that will be entitled to the glory that is laid down and not those who were busy doing activities without learning of Him. Remember Mary and Martha in Luke 10:3842. Although Martha was doing what seemed good enough but Christ said it explicitly, that which Mary had chosen is the most important which shows that something that we must take into consideration firstly is to sit at Jesus’ feet to learn about Him and not going about to do what seems to be secondary. It is never too late to take a pause in our journey to re-examine our initial purpose for coming into this fold(Christianity) to be sure if you joined because of the right reason.

My prayer for us, is that, GOD re-aligns our purpose to suit His will for us.SHALOM.
