year 5 - unit 3: a grateful heart
the fun page
Be thankful THERE are lots of things we can be grateful for like music and song, sunshine and fun. What are you thankful for? Think about it as we will create a shape poem about something you are grateful for. What’s a shape poem? A shape poem is a type of poetry that describes an object and is shaped the same as the object the poem is describing. First, outline the shape of something that you are grateful for with pencil. Write your poem within the outline with a pen. After you have written your poem, erase the outline and you are done! Refer to the example. Then, create your own shape poem in the space below. Example:
I WANT TO THANK Grandma and Grandpa Daddy and Mummy For sending me to art classes every Wednesday night There I learnt dots and strokes colours and shades to paint my imagination on a blank piece of canvas Now I have a golden trophy, my heart swells with pride I am a CHAMPION!
This person writes about a trophy he has won in an art competition.
