Facial expressions THE expressions on people’s faces say a lot about how they feel. When angry, they may pout or frown. Likewise, if they are happy, their eyes light up and they grin from ear to ear. Here’s an activity you can do in groups of four. You will find a number of facial features drawn below. Cut each set out and keep them with you. Your teacher will read out a list of situations. Listen carefully. Next, construct how you feel about each situation and construct what you think this “face” of yours would look like as you respond to the situation. Take about 10 minutes to construct the facial expression, and share your answers in your group before your teacher moves on to the next situation. Don’t forget to tell your group members what each expression stands for! (Example: happy, depressed, sad, confused, etc.) Explain your reasons if you need to. Have fun! Eyebrows

Scenarios for teacher to read from: 1. Your Math teacher gives you a surprise test in class. 2. You bite your tongue while eating a sandwich. 3. You find out this morning that your best friend caught the chicken pox. You slept over at his house two nights ago. 4. You have to present your group’s poster for Science today but you left the poster at home. 5. Your school bus has left the school without you. 6. You tripped and fell in class. 7. You’ve been called to the headmaster’s office. 8. You score an A for your English examination. (Teachers can choose to come up with their own scenarios.)
