Special Music for Good Friday 7:30pm Service The Seven Last Words of Christ, as gathered from the four Gospels, has served as inspiration to a great many visual artists and composers over the centuries. In particular, at least 16 composers have written musical settings of the Seven Last Words, for various combinations of voice and/ or instruments. On Good Friday April 6, 2012 at 7:30pm, the Parish choir, chamber orchestra and vocal soloists will perform the earliest of all the musical setting of the Seven Last Words, composed by Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672). We invite all to come and observe this Holy Day by allowing this work of art to remember the agony Christ endured on the cross.

The WHI retreat is offered free of charge, as a gift to you, through the generosity of private donors. Our Mission: 1. to show appreciation for the men, women, and families serving in the Armed Forces, 2. To help those who have suffered physical, psychological, or spiritual trauma in combat by providing ministry and resources for health and healing, 3. to connect combat veterans with appropriate specialist agencies and resources, 4. to minister practically and prayerfully to members and veterans of the Armed Forces and their families affected by combat deployments, providing support and resources to help them heal and thrive. Presenters: The Rev. Nigel W. D. Mumford. Lt. Col. Noel C. E. Dawes, Col. David Bena Info/Registration: The Rev. Tom Malionek, 301.654.2488 or WHI.Washington@gmail.com.

Business as Mission In addition to providing microcredit and savings programs, Five Talents offers training to its clients by businessmen and women. Over the past 8 years, Five Talents has conducted dozens of these business workshops in more than 10 countries around the world, training thousands of entrepreneurs in the basics of Christian business principles, marketing, business planning, and basic record keeping. Jim Oakes will be leading a team of business leaders on a “Business as Mission” trip this summer to Kenya and the South Sudan, during the first two weeks in August. This is a wonderful opportunity for business leaders who may not think of themselves as missionaries to share their business skills and talents, as well as the love of Christ, with entrepreneurs in some of the poorest places in the world. Five Talents will be hosting an informational luncheon on April 16. For more information, contact Jim Oakes (joakes@cox.net) or Colleen Dyble of Five Talents (cdyble@gmail.com).

Evening Prayer and Worship—Chapel "And now, God, do it again—bring rains to our drought-stricken lives, so those who planted their crops in despair will shout 'hurrahs' at the harvest, so those who went off with heavy hearts will come home laughing, with armloads of blessing." (Psalm 126:4–6, MSG) Join us the last Wednesday of each month for an evening of prayer and worship at 7:30pm in chapel. This gathering will be in a similar format to the prayer meeting held after the Circuit Court announcement on Jan. 11. As a church family, we will be praying for God’s blessing upon the ministry and community of Truro, and for continued Godly resolution to the litigation. Most of all, we are seeking a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon our families, our children, our marriages and our community. We’re looking for an “armload of blessing” to be poured out on all of us! Our next gathering is Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30pm in the Chapel.
