Welcome to the RIOPAN® Design Manual

There are two main elements that comprise the RIOPAN® Brand Graphics; the RIOPAN® Heartburn Graphic and the upper cool blue element. Together, they represent the story of heartburn relief through acid-levelling in a clear and easyto-understand way.

Heartburn affects millions of people all over the world. In competitive market conditions, RIOPAN® must stand out as a leader in instant heartburn relief. That’s why it’s important that all RIOPAN® marketing materials are presented in a clear and consistent way.

Instant Heartburn Relief – Here & now!

This manual shows you how to achieve this important goal. It is designed as a quick-reference guide for when you need to build up campaign materials in your local markets. You can see what the various elements are and how to use them in creating campaigns, as well as a variety of examples of campaign materials. Heartburn is represented by the fiery colours and flickering flames in the lower part of the image. The horizontal set-up in which the flames are deflected and level off represents the levelling effect of RIOPAN®. The cool blue element above the flames emphasises heartburn relief.

How to use the Brand Graphics

The flames in the RIOPAN® Heartburn Graphic should always be deflecting off the top of the warm red background.

1 Using the Brand Graphics

The Brand Graphics consist of two elements.

The Brand Graphics appear on RIOPAN® packaging but can also be used in sales and marketing materials, including presentations, banners and displays. It is important that both elements are used together to tell the whole acidlevelling and relief story. In some cases, the upper cool blue element can be replaced with the Brand Image.

The RIOPAN® Heartburn Graphic should always be used with a cooling element - the Brand Image or the cool blue element. The cool blue element should be either the file “Cool blue gradient.psd” or the Brand Image. It is possible to use a combination of both - see the examples shown in this manual.

A reasonable amount of disproportional stretching of the Flames_01.ai is allowed. Cropping or fading the edges and bottom can also be applied when necessary. See examples throughout this guide. The Bar_red_01.ai should always be scaled* to fit the bounding box - and should not be cropped. *): Disproportional scaling is allowed

The cool blue element should always be the most prominent feature. The RIOPAN® Heartburn Graphic should never use more than 40% (max) of the total visual. 4

Brand Image The RIOPAN® Brand Image is central to the brand campaign, representing the key messages in one strong visual. It is used in the creation of campaign materials and as a key part of any marketing and promotional activities. It is a powerful, high-energy image of a man and woman enjoying a sailing trip – a situation that an attack of heartburn would ruin and where instant relief would be necessary. The image ties in with the headline “Spend Time on Life, not Heartburn”, illustrating freedom and enjoyment of life without heartburn. Like the cool blue element of the Brand Graphics, the image is dominated by blue sky and water, representing the cooling relief of RIOPAN®. The angle of the shot and the activity are horizontal to represent the acid-levelling mode of action.

Using the image The image should be used in the same way as the cool blue element in the Brand Graphics. It should be positioned above the RIOPAN® Heartburn Graphic to emphasise the cooling effect of RIOPAN®. For more information about using the Brand Image, see next page.

Packaging RIOPAN® packaging is designed to make the product easily recognisable and differentiate it from its competitors on pharmacy shelves. It is comprised of both elements from the Brand Graphics to visually express heartburn relief.

The packaging design The predominance of cool blue on the packaging clearly represents the cooling relief that RIOPAN® offers in contrast to the heartburn represented by the flames. The font size and type of the product name creates a powerful visual, linking to the RIOPAN® effect and making it a clear choice for consumers.

Using the pack as a logo The RIOPAN® pack is also used as a logo in campaign materials. For more information, see next page.

How to use the packaging as logo

The RIOPAN® pack is also used as a logo in campaign materials. This is in order to drive consumer recognition all the way to the pharmacy counter.

How to position the pack-image in a DTP-programme

When using the pack as product logo, use it without legal information, so that the brand name and elements stand out as much as possible.

TIP: Use your programme’s “paste in place” or similar function to create a copy of the image in the exact same position.

The pack images are available as layered Photoshop® files, containing two layers; “Pack” and “Shadow”.

How to use general brand elements RIOPAN® supplements the Nycomed Corporate Guidelines with its own brand typography and colours. However Nycomed Corporate Guidelines are still the foundation of RIOPAN® graphical design.

RIOPAN® brand typography is a key part of our visual identity. Here is an overview of the typefaces that must be used for all product materials, both print and electronic.

DIN 1451 Engschrift is the primary typeface used for headings in all printed material for external use. You can obtain licensed copies of this typeface from www. linotype.com.

Nycomed Sans is the secondary typeface used for body

Eine weitere Funktion der Magensäure besteht darin, Bakterien, die wir z. B. mit der Nahrung zu uns nehmen, abzutöten. Tritt die Säure jedoch in die Speiseröhre über, entsteht der brennende, stechende Schmerz. Denn die Speiseröhre hat im Gegensatz zum Magen keine ausreichend schützende Schleimschicht. Sie ist der Magensäure hilflos ausgesetzt. Zuviel Magensäure greift auch den Magen an: Ein zuviel an Magensäure schädigt zudem auch den Magen selbst. Dies passiert, wenn ein Übermaß an Säure die schützende Schleimschicht im Magen angreift. Im schlimmsten Fall trifft die Magensäure direkt auf die Magenwand. Diese Symptomatik nennt man säurebedingte Magenbeschwerden.

Resultat: Ein brennender Schmerz im Magen. In einigen Fällen treten Sodbrennen und säurebedingte Magenbeschwerden gleichzeitig auf. Im Volksmund werden beide Beschwerden oftmals einfach unter der Begrifflichkeit Sodbrennen zusammengefasst. Es handelt sich jedoch um zwei verschiedene Erscheinungsformen von magensäurebedingten, gesundheitlichen Problemen.
