DISCOVER UNIQUE AND BUILD YOUR HAPPINESS

Y

ou may feel good knowing a family-owned, local residential developer has your best interests in focus. Creating lifestyle neighborhoods with beautiful surroundings is no small feat.

Tradition Development saw the future and paved the way to it. Two cornerstone projects, Spirit of Brandtjen Farm in Lakeville, and the adjoining Cobblestone Lake in Apple Valley started two decades ago. The nearly 1,000 combined acres became two premier south metro neighborhoods with stunning water features, beautiful trails and ample green space.

12 |

connect. magazine

Both neighborhoods offer single-family homes, townhome living, higher density apartments, and senior living — surrounded by conveniently located retail businesses. Unique and ahead of its time is the takeaway from these neighborhoods. No doubt Tradition will continue to apply those successes to its future neighborhoods.

A TRUSTED FUTURE TO LOOK FORWARD TO Based on their track record, land sellers, local builders and other banks look to Tradition’s engineering, finance and development professionals as trusted partners. It’s a testament to a family-owned, customer-centered company doing good things for community advancement.

EMPLOYEE EVENT AT SCHRAM VINEYARDS

A TOAST TO THE

TRADITION FAMILY ERNEST HEMINGWAY ONCE SAID,

“Wine and friends are a great blend.” A robust blend of employees from Tradition’s interconnected family of companies gathered on October 13th at Schram Vineyards in Waconia, MN. This ultimate, quarterly mixer is a way to celebrate a job well done and make connections with other Tradition employees. Amongst the picturesque grape vines, rolling hills, and barnwood tasting room, there were food trucks, cigar rolling demonstrations, make-your-own succulents, bocce ball and more. Old and new connections were made while talking business, family and community. Everyone left uplifted and energized. At the heart of it all was the reason Tradition exists—to raise a glass to each other and build upon those connections and the communities Tradition supports.

Chief Operating Officer Jason Dario says, “Making sure that we take care of people is the foundation Tradition Mortgage was built on and it’s what we stand by every day.”

The three men didn’t just create a company; they put together a remarkable staff that grew along with the vision. President Erik Hendrikson says, “We feel blessed to have experienced success beyond our wildest dreams. It’s a team effort, and the staff of Tradition Mortgage is second to none.” Now, still with the company, the gentlemen smile back at satisfied customers like you, grateful for the support and ease of doing business. he Hendrickson’s are a fun-loving Minnesota family synonymous with hockey.

Sadly they lost their grand patriarch in 2018. Larry Hendrickson was a decorated multi-sport athlete, coach, a pioneer in weightlifting, devoted family man, Richfield MN icon—and philanthropist who founded the Hendrickson Foundation. In 1976 Larry broke his neck playing senior hockey and was read his last rites at the hospital. He was thankful he survived and recovered without lasting physical restrictions.

This “wow moment” never left his heart especially years later when he talked with a buddy about how inferior hockey programs for players with special needs in Minnesota were compared to other states under the USA Hockey umbrella. The Hendrickson family, alongside a team of passionate people, are dedicated to furthering the HF mission, growing diversified hockey, and honoring Larry’s legacy.

tranquil morning on the golf course came with a special mission on June 28, 2021 for the United Heroes League Celebrity Camo Classic at Legends Club in Prior Lake. A good cause rounded up the troops for a full military takeover of the golf course filled with Humvees, Blackhawk helicopters, snipers, smokescreens, and the occasional firefight. 36 foursomes paired with a professional athlete to raise funds and spirits. The United Heroes League’s day-to-day mission is to keep military kids healthy and active through sports while their parents are deployed. The fun-filled Camo Classic event was a success and all participants left injury free with smiles on their faces after a one-of-a-kind day on the course.

NEW MINNEAPOLIS STUDENT HOUSING MAKES THE GRADE

A

uthor Stephen King wrote, “Sooner or later, everything old is new again.” Although he was relating to his writing, his statement can apply to almost anything, including real estate. If you work or live in downtown Minneapolis, or have a college student looking for housing, you understand the need. Tradition Housing Solutions (THS) was created as an opportunity to help students, families and individuals find a fresh, convenient and safe place to live. Imagine a typical, dated city block with small, aged houses surrounded by large buildings downtown. It’s unsightly and unsustainable. One of many successfully completed projects in 2021 happened on Essex Street in Minneapolis, MN.

BEFORE

This property went from shabby to chic and is now a purposeful, 4-story, 7,200 sq. foot, 19-bedroom, 4-unit apartment. It is professionally managed to accommodate student housing in close proximity to the University of Minnesota campus. Thanks to recent successes and increased demand from various owner and investor groups, THS has its sights set on creating more student and multifamily rental housing solutions throughout the Twin Cities.

SERVING OTHERS

NEXT DOOR AND AROUND THE WORLD A

t the foundation of every thriving community are companies that leverage their skills, resources and networks as a force for good—even in Zimbabwe.

In January 2022, a group of employees from Tradition Capital Bank traveled with a purpose 8,500 miles away to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe to participate in a MATTER Insight Trip. MATTER is a global nonprofit that helps people launch projects to improve communities. Tradition employees dug in by planting nutritious Chaya trees, preparing a Chaya meal for residents in an elderly care facility, painting the interior of the newly opened Doyle Collaboration Center and visiting the Victoria Falls Hospital to see maternity ward equipment that Tradition sponsored in 2021 to improve healthcare for new mothers and their babies. Employees were able to see firsthand some of the many projects that MATTER’s partners, like Tradition, have supported in the past. The positive impacts accomplished by the group in such a short time will be felt by Zimbabwe families and their community for decades to come. If you or your company would like to get involved with MATTER or experience a MATTER insight trip, visit matter.ngo or #MATTERnation
