National TRIO Day! In 1986, a congressional resolution declared that Saturday, February 28, 1986, should be designated as “National TRIO Day” to commemorate the annual achievements of the TRIO programs in communities across the country. TRIO are federal educational opportunity programs that support limitedincome students, first-generation students, and students with disabilities to enter college and earn a college degree. Every year since then, the fourth Saturday in February is reserved as National TRIO Day -a day of celebration, reflection, and action around increased access to higher education for disadvantaged students. To celebrate our students, the TRIO programs at The Evergreen State College will be featuring TRIO students and alumni in their Instagram account this week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), so check out Evergreen’s Insta stories @evergreenstcol The Washington State TRIO Association will also be hosting a virtual celebration and has organized two workshops to help students talk about their strengths in essays and interviews.
