HOUSING INVESTMENTS ARE NEEDED
By Chris Frost Tri County Sentry Oxnard-- The Ventura County Housing Reimagined Conference continues with Thousand Oaks City Manager Andrew Powers saying there are challenges across the entire spectrum between those who are unhoused and those who are trying to get a leg up and into affordable housing and those trying to purchase their first home. “Investments are needed at all ends of the spectrum because, in that triangle of jobs, housing, and the economy, that’s really quality of life in the middle,” he said. “When you’re balanced out on that, it’s really what helps us.” He remains optimistic about where they are but notes that challenges lie ahead. “Planning at the local level is where it starts,” he said. “There’s a lot of noise about Sacramento n Housing, see page 5

Costume Show IS A FETCHING TREAT

Ventura-- Harbor Village went to the dogs, Saturday, October 30, as the HOWLO-WEEN Dog Costume Contest brought a large crowd of furry friends decked out in costumes with their “hoomans” having a great time.

HE dogs were judged for Best in Show, Spookiest, Most SeaWorthy, Cutest, Prettiest, and Most Creative categories. The outdoor event drew a big crowd as the event sponsor, Pet Barn Ventura, provided the treats
as they completed their walk. Ventura Harbor and Port District Marketing and Events Coordinator Ruby Emery said the event is Covid-19 safe and is outdoors in the sea air. “We encourage maskwearing,” she said. “The crowd here is especially kind and compliant. We have a sanitation station, and we’re staying six feet apart as much as possible.” She said Ventura Pet Barn and Underwood Family Farms n Costume, see page 3
Gabe Teran unofficially retains District 2 seat By Chris Frost Tri County Sentry Oxnard-- Incumbent District 2 Councilman Gabe Teran has retained his seat with the Oxnard City Council. The unofficial results have Teran receiving 883 votes, 30 at the polling place, and 853 via mail-in
votes. The county must count the remaining mail-in ballots. Challenger Tai Hartley received 616 votes, 25 at the polling place, and 616 via mailin votes. Candidate Eduardo Q Huerta received five votes at the polling place and 113 mail-in votes, for a total of 118 votes. Teran took office after being
appointed by the City Council Gabe to serve the District 2 vacancy left by the election of Mayor Pro Tem Carmen Ramirez to Ventura County Supervisor. Teran engaged the public and met constituents in locations throughout Oxnard, listening and then looking to help make the city better.
