Marlene's Spitfire Adventure! We caught up with Marlene, who told us about her high-flying adventures! "We arrived at Biggin Hill Airport in Westerham for my Spitfire experience. I had already watched the health and safety video beforehand and signed a document stating I was fit to fly. Soon it was time to get into the plane. I changed into my flight suit and put on my gloves, which as you can see, fitted perfectly! I then had a parachute secured to my back and was told what to do if I needed to bail out of the plane in an emergency.

As I climbed into the plane, I was asked by the pilot, John, to raise my seat to the highest level, so he would be able to see me in the back and, once I was strapped in, we were ready for takeoff! As the plane was used in the war, it had a large engine and no inside padding, so when we taxied down the runway, all I could hear was the loud engine sounds and I felt every bump on the runway. We quickly began to build speed and then suddenly, we were off the ground and into the sky! Thankfully, the weather that day was bright and clear, so the views of the world below us were magnificent. 8
