THURSDAY 15 FEBRUARY 2024

LAST CHANCE TO ENTER OUR COMPETITION TO CELEBRATE LAUNCH OF NEW MARKETING AND TV AD CAMPAIGN This week we launched our latest marketing campaign, ‘Getting Together’. The campaign is part of our plan to make journeys better, rebuild customer confidence, and get people excited again to make journeys across our network. Building on the success of our previous much-loved puppet campaign, we’re using the same theme of ‘getting together’ and moving this on to ‘make the most of getting together with TransPennine Express’. Produced by The&Partnership Manchester, the campaign can be seen on TV, video on demand, newspapers, radio, YouTube, social media and digital displays, and will run until mid-April. You can watch the TV ad and find out more about the campaign by visiting our website.

To celebrate the launch, we’ve been running a competition every day this week to win one of five exciting experience and hotel stays in some of the fantastic cities we serve. There’s still time to enter on Thursday to win a hop-on hop-off bus tour and overnight stay in Glasgow, or learn more about the Beatles’ story with an overnight stay in Liverpool by entering on Friday. To be in with a chance of winning, simply enter by completing this form each day before 7pm. You can also enter the competition on our app The Loop. Further details about the competition can be found on the giveaway page. Winners will be contacted on Monday 19 February via email. Good luck!

TPE COLLEAGUES ‘SURPRISE AND DELIGHT’ CUSTOMERS ACROSS THE NETWORK AS PART OF NEW INITIATIVE Earlier this week, colleagues visited stations across our network to surprise and delight our customers to celebrate Pancake Day and Valentine’s Day. Handing out goodie bags containing TPE branded pancake mix and a lemon on Shrove Tuesday, and handcrafted roses on Valentine’s Day, colleagues visited Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly and Huddersfield stations.

TPE colleagues were out handing pancake mix and roses to customers to celebrate Pancake Day and Valentine’s Day.

The surprise and delight initiative comes as part of our plan to rebuild our relationship with our customers. We will be running more events throughout February and March, so if you’d like to get involved, please keep an eye out in future comms for further details.

CHAMPIONING CAREERS AT TPE Students across the north west explored what it would be like to work in the rail industry at a series of careers events. As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Possession Delivery Managers Rob Sessions and Kieran Jarvis were joined by Fleet Apprentice Ben Dixon at a careers event in Bolton. The trio spoke to attendees about careers at TPE and shared insights into our apprenticeship scheme.

Rob said: “I’d like to thank Ben and Kieran for coming to the event. It was really helpful to have a present and past apprentice when speaking to the people. I think they got a lot out of it and gained a lot more knowledge of the roles that the railway has to offer.” Elsewhere, Resourcing Administrator Lisa Yemm was out in the region visiting Radclyffe School in Chadderton, Oldham, where she introduced 160 Year 9 students to TPE. The Apprenticeship Week events followed several career sessions held in December, which included a visit to Salford City Academy Careers Fair and North Huddersfield Trust School Careers Fair, as well as a session with Greenhill Chai Ladies in Oldham.

NORTH AND EAST ROUTE CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH As part of Leeds Safety Week (20 – 24 May), the railway will be going up against the emergency services in a charity football match. The match will be held at LNER Community Stadium, York, on Sunday 26 May. All donations will go to the Railway Children, and will help fund the charity’s vital work keeping young people off the streets. If you’d like to represent the railway (and prove we have the best football skills), you can sign up here.

INNOVATION ROADSHOW LANDS IN GLASGOW ON QUEST TO MAKE TPE STATIONS AND TRAINS MORE ACCESSIBLE In case you missed it, our latest Innovation Challenge launched earlier this week and we’re looking for ideas about how we can improve accessibility on our trains and at our stations. We’ve been getting out and about across the network to hear first-hand from colleagues what changes we can make and Colin Kelly, Head of Continuous Improvement and Efficiency, ventured up to Glasgow Train Crew Depot on Tuesday (13 February) to chat to our colleagues and hear their thoughts. Colin said: “We had a brilliant day in Glasgow on Tuesday as we took our Innovation Roadshow up to Scotland. “ Lots of people stopped to chat to find out more about why we were there which resulted in some great conversations, with 30 ideas and suggestions received, and to raise awareness of our latest Innovation Challenge on improving accessibility.” Do you have an idea or suggestion that you’d like to share to help improve accessibility? It doesn’t need to be anything technical, it could just be something simple that we haven’t done before. Submit your ideas here or scan the QR code right by Friday 23 February to be in with the chance of winning an Apple Watch and other exciting prizes!
