A novel by local girl Denise Brassil

We are thrilled to announce the nationwide release of “What Anna Did Next”, a ground-breaking debut novel by County Kerry’s very own Denise Brassil. The book, published by the esteemed Canterbury based publishing house, Conrad press Ltd, is available across Ireland from July 2023. Written in the refreshingly candid and humorous voice of the Brassil sisters, “What Anna Did Next” is a spirited tale of one woman’s journey to find herself amidst the trials and tribulations of life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. Readers will find themselves immersed in a world that is at once hilariously real, emotionally poignant, and irresistibly Irish. The novel traces the life of Anna Moran, a young woman from Dingle in West Kerry, whose life is teetering between two vital quests – the pursuit of the perfect job and for once, true love. With her relationship status as eternally ‘open to anything’, Anna embarks on an expedition of self-discovery, leaving behind a decade of wildness and the incessant hum of small-town gossip. But the road to self-discovery is not an easy one, and Anna is faced with some difficult decisions when tragedy strikes.

“What Anna Did Next” is not just a novel; it’s a tribute to Denise Brassil’s late sister, Martha, with whom she began co-writing the story over a decade ago. Denise’s determination to finish their shared story in the wake of Martha’s untimely passing in 2018 is a testament to the enduring spirit of love and sisterhood.
