The blue sky has arrived and with it comes that burst of owers that we have all been waiting for, particularly from the Herbaceous plants. While annual planting gives tremendous colour, the Herbaceous plants only have to be planted once. Beginning with the dark days of January with the amazing
Hellebore in var. moving into the heavily scented Erysimum (perennial wall ower) to name but a few, from there on in, watching the herbaceous border come to life. The beauty of the Herbaceous plant is, there is a plant that suits every site, be it shady, full sun or damp. Herbaceous plants will give many many years of pleasure and blossom more as the years go on, providing the proper planting procedures, and aftercare are adhered to, i.e. ground preparation, incorporating seaweed based feed and good quality compost. Below is a listing of some of the most reliable plants for your Herbaceous border. When planting a Herbaceous border, it is very important to plant in groups of three, ve, or seven to get the most e ect.
