Top International Designer, Colin Horgan, to judge Style Stakes Sunday

Get ready for the thrilling 3-day Listowel Races Summer Festival Meeting from June 3rd to 5th, a highlight of the season. The event was officially launched at a photocall in Listowel, featuring renowned fashion designer Colin Horgan, Listowel Race Company Chairman David Fitzmaurice, model Tulasi Muralee Dharan, and award-winning milliner Aoife Hannon.

The exciting addition to this year’s festival is Style Stakes Sunday on June 4th, where the Best Dressed Man and Best Dressed Lady will each win a generous €500 cash prize. The runners-up in each category will enjoy a luxurious overnight stay at The Montenotte Hotel Cork. The judging will take place at 1:30 pm, and the winners will be announced in the parade ring after the 5th race.

The racing highlights of the Summer festival include the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden with a prize of €25,000 on June 3rd, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden offering €15,000 on June 4th, and the Join Racing TV Now Handicap Hurdle worth €22,000 on June 5th. In addition to the thrilling races, there will be excellent corporate entertainment packages available and the return of the popular Wooly Pet Farm. Sunshine and Smiles at the 2023 Donal Walsh Spa Day

The ‘Donal Walsh Spa 6K Challenge’ took place on Sunday, May 28th, at Spa N.S. The event, organized by the school in honor of their former student Donal Walsh, attracted a large crowd who came together for a day of family fun. This year marked the 10th anniversary of Donal’s passing, making the event even more meaningful.

The school principal, Peter Linehan, expressed his gratitude to the dedicated committee and volunteers who worked tirelessly to create a special event that embodied Donal’s message of living life to the fullest.

The Parents Association played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event, preparing everything meticulously.

activities. The students organized a market, while children from 5th and 6th classes arranged entertaining games and challenges. The highlight of the day was the ‘Donal Walsh Spa 6K Challenge,’ a run/walk looped course that started and ended at the school. Donal’s parents, Fionbarr and Elma, along with his sister Jema, were present to officially kick off the run/walk.

The event had a fantastic atmosphere, and participants of all ages enjoyed the beautiful sunshine as they completed the course. The winners of the men’s section were Kerry coach Arthur Fitzgerald, followed closely by local runners David Chute and Liam O’Donnell. In the women’s section, local girl Evie O’Sullivan claimed first place, with Hannah Redican and Anna Chute close behind.

The day was filled with laughter and enjoyment, with street performer Tommy Broderick entertaining the crowd with his puppet show. A delightful barbecue and refreshments were provided by the Parents Association.

Elma Walsh expressed her joy about returning to Spa N.S., a place where Donal had many happy days. She commended the committee for organizing a truly special day that Donal would have loved.
