The ninth edition of the famed Sharjah Light Festival saw prestigious architectural landmarks adorned with enthralling light shows to the delight of spectators, once again highlighting the richness of the emirate’s culture and its ancient civilization. The 2019 edition of the event, which lasted for 11 days, attracted a remarkable turnout of visitors and tourists, who were mesmerised by dazzling light shows put on by renowned international artists under the theme ‘Culture and Family’. The festival featured a series of light shows that demonstrated the creativity of the artists, who used modern photovoltaic technology in innovative ways to symbolise cultural abundance through graphic design, Arabic calligraphy, and a mix of vibrant colours, in addition to the latest laser techniques. All of these elements came together to transform the emirate’s architectural landmarks, turning them into unique artistic creations, accompanied by music from various international musicians. H. E. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, said that the ninth edition’s success is a fitting culmination of the efforts of all the teams and departments in the Authority, the participating artists, supporters, strategic partners, and the media. The series of creative light shows added a new artistic dimension to the distinctive architectural heritage of Sharjah.
