Erie Parks & Recreation | Winter/Spring 2026 Program Guide

Connecting you to FUN!

Town of Erie | Parks & Recreation

Our mission is to build community through the delivery of exceptional parks, open spaces, trails, facilities, programs and services.

A letter from our Director of Parks & Recreation, Luke Bolinger:

It was another exciting and busy fall for Erie Parks & Recreation, with new cultural events, the groundbreaking at Schofield Farm, and innovative new programs all making their debut.

Earlier this year, we officially adopted our Connecting You to Fun Playbook, our strategic plan that provides a clear roadmap for decision-making and investment over the next decade. It’s built around a balanced approach to growth, accessibility, environmental stewardship, and quality of life. But let me be clear: this plan only works because of you. I’m incredibly grateful to serve such an engaged and passionate community. Looking ahead to 2026, we’ll be leaning on your input again as

we explore how to expand our facilities and services to meet the needs of our growing town. More to come!

In the meantime, we’re focused on delivering progress you can see and experience, new public art installations, essential maintenance projects, trail connections, and finalizing construction documents (and breaking ground!) at the Compass and Morgan Hill park sites.

We’re excited for what 2026 will bring and hope you’ll continue to join us on this journey. Enjoy our winter/spring offerings, and we’ll see you out there!

Recreational Sports Age Classifications

For the majority of our leagues, we classify our league offerings by age. Unless otherwise noted in each program/league description, the age calculation date for all youth sports programs/leagues will be calculated by the first league contact day.

“U” before the age number stands for “under” (e.g., U9 stands for ages under 9).

“U” after the age number stands for “and under” (e.g., 9U stands for ages 9 and under).

Registrations

Registrations for all leagues will be accepted from when the league’s registration opens through the registration deadline or until each league reaches maximum capacity, whichever comes first. League practice days, times and locations are subject to change.

Uniforms

All league fees include a game jersey or t-shirt depending on age. Additional items are not provided unless otherwise noted. If a participant orders the wrong size uniform, they are responsible for the replacement cost. Jersey colors are chosen at random, no requests will be accepted, and uniforms may not be altered in any way.

Interested in Volunteer Coaching?

All teams are coached by parent volunteers. Please contact volunteer@erieco.gov if you are interested in coaching and we will respond within five business days.

Coaching Requirements

Volunteer coaches should have familiarity with the sport they are coaching and enjoy working with youth. In addition, volunteer coaches must complete a background screen and pass other league trainings as necessary before first contact.

Officials

In general (varies depending on sport), leagues for children ages 8 and under are self-officiated by coaches and parent volunteers. Games for ages 9+ are officiated with a game official. Please remember to treat all officials with respect.

Competitive Sports Policy

It is against Erie Parks & Recreation Youth Sports Leagues policy for players to concurrently participate in/on any same sport competitive league/team during any part of our respective recreational sports season. By registering and participating in any of our youth sports leagues, you acknowledge that you and the participant are abiding by this policy.

With that said, we understand that Erie Parks & Recreation sports leagues do not fit everyone’s needs. Check out our website erieco.gov/1436/Youth-Sports for a list of organizations that offer competitive programming.

Building a Greener & More Connected Erie

Parks & Recreation Projects Erie is transforming its parks and open spaces to better serve our growing community.

Current Projects

Schofield Farm Open Space

Work is underway to restore the historic barn and turn the Quonset hut into a new Erie Makerspace, managed by Co-Create Erie. When complete, the site will feature a loop trail, picnic areas, a community garden, play area, event space, and agricultural displays that celebrate Erie’s farming history.

Colliers Hill to Downtown Trail Connection

A new multi-use trail connecting Colliers Hill neighborhood to Coal Creek Park. The project includes a pedestrian bridge across Coal Creek and a redesigned disc golf course to safely include the new trail route.

Coal Creek Trail Reach 2

The missing link of the Coal Creek Regional Trail between Reliance Park and County Line Road. This project also improves the creek corridor to reduce erosion and lower flood risk.

Sunset Area Trails

With a focus on improving trail connections around the Erie Singletrack Trails and Sunset West Trails. The first phase will build a multi-use concrete trail along WCR 6, connecting WCR 5 to the Sunset West Trails, supporting future growth in the area.

Prairie Run Open Space

A Boulder County-led project bringing new trails, trailheads, shelters, restrooms, and other visitor features along East Boulder Creek north and west of Erie. This project will tie into Erie’s trail system at Allan Farms Open Space along 119th Street, and north of Kenosha Road.
