EMERGENCY ALERTS
ALL residents in Erie should register for emergency alerts through the Boulder County system to receive notifications within the Town of Erie boundaries (no matter which side of Erie you reside; Weld or Boulder counties).
We recommend you subscribe to alerts in Boulder, Weld, and Broomfield counties.
• Residents who reside on the Weld County side of the Town should enroll in notifications through Weld County CodeRED.
• Residents who reside near the Broomfield boundaries should enroll in notifications through LookoutAlert.
DOG REMINDERS
Leash Law
Anyone having charge, care, custody, or control of any dog of any age shall keep such dog upon his premises unless they are under the control of a competent person and on a leash or chain not over 15 feet long.
Dog Licensing
Dogs owned by residents in the Town of Erie must be licensed. Every owner of a dog over six months of age shall have the animal licensed within 30 days after it moves into the Town. These licenses expire when the licensed dogs rabies vaccination expires. Licenses are free.
The owner shall provide the following information:
• Proof of current rabies vaccination.
• The name, physical address, and telephone number of the owner of the dog.

Residential TREE REBATE PROGRAM
$200 TREE REBATE
Town of Erie residents may be eligible to receive up to a $200 credit on their utility bill for a qualifying tree purchase!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR TREE REBATE PROGRAM IN ERIE:
• Qualifying trees must be planted at the Town of Erie address listed on your application.
• The rebatee is applicable ONLY towards the cost of the tree, and may NOT be used toward the purchase of garden supplies, sod, bushes, shrubs of any kind, labor or any other cost associated with the tree purchase.
• Must call 811 Notification Center of Colorado to request a free locate of underground utilities prior to digging.
• If you are not planting the tree yourself, use a Town of Erie Licensed Arborist. Trees must be planted in accordance with Tree Planting Specifications.
• Must be purchased during one of two optimal planting periods:
Spring: March 15 - June 15
Fall: September 1 - October 15
• Deciduous trees must be 1.5 inch caliper and evergreen trees must be at least 6 feet tall when purchased.
• Tree must be a tree from the Town's approved tree species list.
• Resident accepts all planting and ongoing care of the tree.

Environmental Services
The Environmental Services Department provides services to the public which aim to protect Erie's land, water, air, and other resources. This team monitors air quality, tracks proposed oil and gas operations or maintenance, provides rebates, guidance, and support for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water conservation.

The Town of Erie Environmental Services Department maintains a Recycling Center which accepts commingled containers, mixed paper, and yard waste.

The recycling bins are emptied by Waste Connections weekly on Mondays and Fridays. The bins are moved off-site to be emptied, and are gone for approximately 2-4 hours.

TRANSPORTATION
WALK, BIKE AND E-MOBILITY
Explore of more than 70 miles of offstreet trails and pathways that connect your neighborhood to parks, open space, shopping and schools around town. The spine trails are a great place to ride bicycles and e-mobility (as allowed under current ordinances) locally, or use them to connect to Louisville, Lafayette, and Broomfield via the Coal and Rock Creek Regional Trails. Our network of on-street bike lanes are a great place to ride your e-bike locally. More than 150 miles of detached sidewalk are a great place to walk your pet, stroll with your family, and connect to local transit services.
FUN FACT: People have been riding, building, and racing bicycles in Erie for more than 100 years.
RTD TRANSIT SERVICE
RTD operates the JUMP bus route from the Erie Community Center, Erie Community Park, and the Erie Community Library to downtown Boulder and Lafayette. There are five local stops in Erie along Arapahoe Road, Erie Parkway and 119th Avenue. You can walk or ride to the local stops using the spine trail network or park-n-ride at the Erie Community Center.
FUN FACT: More than 120 years ago Erie was a major transit stop located along a passenger rail line that connected Denver to Wyoming.

DRIVING IN ERIE
Erie’s main north/south road is County Line Road. It has a rich history as the place where Weld and Boulder counties join. It provides access to Broomfield and the Erie Municipal Airport to the south and Longmont to the north. Along the way you will find schools, shopping, and the Erie Community Center. The main east/ west road is Erie Parkway. It provides unparalleled views to the west and is the Town’s primary access point to I-25 to the east.
FUN FACT: Erie is one of the few communities in Colorado that currently has a historic street grid, new suburban parkways, roundabouts, unpaved roads, and an urban interchange on the Interstate system.
ACCESSIBLE SERVICES
VIA Transportation is a private, nonprofit organization that provides Erie residents with transportation and mobility options to live a more self-sufficient and independent life. VIA provides reservation-based services in Erie and the surrounding area. Boulder County’s Mobility 4 All Program offers technical support, training and ride reimbursements for people who are new to UBER and LYFT services.
FUN FACT: The Town of Erie Active Adults program offers more than 70 trips per year with transportation to events and more.


RESPONSIBILITIES
The Town of Erie is currently a statutory municipality operating under the Town Council/Town Manager form of government. Under this form of government, the Council serves as the legislative and governing body of the Town, while the Town Manager administers the day-to-day operations of the Town. The Council is responsible for establishing Town policies and goals, and has the authority to adopt codes, ordinances, and resolutions as needed to conduct the business of the Town.
