CRIMESTATISTICS
Share a 5-year comparison of crime statistics in the Annual Report each year By 2027, add a crime analyst position

CRIMERATES
Track and report property and violent crimes with the goal of maintaining crime rates below the national average
TRANSPORTATION SAFETY
Monitor high collision locations and adjust education and enforcement efforts as necessary. Hire additional traffic officers by 2029.
STAFFING
Increase sworn officer strength to more than 60 by 2029, and increase non-sworn support staff by eight in the same time period while maintaining hiring standards.






COMMUNITY OUTREA
Community relationships foster a sense of ownership. The police department will host both a Community and Youth Academy as well as four additional events, annually
COMMUNITY-FOCUSED
1) Establish a community advisory board by Q4 2027.
2) Establish a youth mentorship program by Q4 2028.
3) Identify geographic areas to assist with community relationships by Q4 2029
TRANSPARENCY & C
An annual report is published each year at the beginning of the second quarter of the year, and is to be supplemented with frequent crimerelated social media. By the beginning of 2025, the community can expect an online tool that details the location and frequency of recent property crimes
ACCREDITATION
Accreditation provides several benefits: Increased accountability, improved community trust, enhanced professional standards, better management practices, reduced liability potential, and a demonstration and commitment to excellence in policing by meeting nationally recognized standards.
A CACP re-accreditation will occur in 2025, with a CALEA accreditation sought by 2029.

TRAINING&DEVELOPMENT
In addition to satisfying all Colorado POST requirements, establish a comprehensive training plan for all employees to include the implementation of leadership mentoring and development for future leaders
AERIALSYSTEMS(UAS)CAPABILITIES
EPD’s first-ever UAS program was fully operational in 2023, and will be expanded to utilize crime scene and crash scene mapping capabilities.

BODYWORNCAMERAEFFICIENCIES
Examine and recommend upgrades to the Body Worn Camera program to include live viewing and handgun drawing activation options. Hiring a digital media technician will contribute to streamlined processes with logging, editing, and distributing digital evidence.
