REPORT Annual 2024

Letter from the Chief
It is my distinct honor to present you with this 2024 Annual Report. This document summarizes a year of progress, commitment, and service within the Erie Police Department. The members of the Erie Police Department have worked throughout the last year to enhance public safety, strengthen community relationships, and set the stage for a bright future for our Town.
One of our most significant milestones this year was the start of design for our police building expansion at 1000 Telleen Avenue. After hosting an open house in late 2023 to gather community input, we selected an architect on September 10, 2024, to begin the design of the expansion. This expansion is planned to provide our officers and staff with the needed space and resources to continue serving Erie’s growing population well into the future.
In addition to our facility expansion, we have developed a revised comprehensive 5-year Strategic Plan for 2025-2029, focusing on safety, community engagement, and operational efficiency. This plan will guide our efforts in ensuring the Town of Erie remains a safe and welcoming place for all as it continues to grow. Additionally, we welcomed 13 new officers to our ranks, ensuring our ability to meet the needs of our growing town.
Community engagement is vital to our mission and success as a police department. As Erie celebrated its 150th anniversary this year, our department took great pride in participating in events that helped us connect and build positive relations with many of our community members. We will always prioritize partnerships and community relations as part of who we are as a department.
TRAVELLED THEWORLD
The Town of Erie’s crime rates remain below both the state and national averages Erie is a safe and thriving Town and as we look ahead, the employees of the Erie Police Department will serve with integrity, professionalism, and dedication. I am deeply humbled to have the opportunity to continue to serve with the Erie Police Department as Chief, and I look forward to advancing our shared vision for a safe and strong community within the Town of Erie
Thank you for your continued trust and support,

LeeMathis Chief of Police
