ISPS HANDA World Invitational Presented by Modest! Golf Presented by Modest! Golf Management was the first event of its kind in Europe and took place at Galgorm Castle and Massereene Golf Club in 2019. It was transformed into a new global event for men and women professionals in 2019. This progressive move was made possible when ISPA HANDA and long time partners of the NI Open, Modest! Golf, engaged with organisers and bought into the long-term vision for this unique event. This event welcomed men and women playing the same golf courses, at the same time, competing for equal prize money. Our very own Stephanie Meadow took the female title and Jack Senior won the male title.
Dates- 11-14 August 2022 The DP World Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour will again tri-sanction the ISPS HANDA World Invitational presented by Modest! Golf Management in Northern Ireland, hosted by Galgorm. The 2022 event will continue to be played over two of Northern Ireland’s finest parklands, Galgorm Castle and Massereene and will form part of the DP World Tour’s 2022 UK Swing, taking in tournaments in Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England across July and August. A traditional 72-hole stroke play format will be in place with men and women competing at the two venues, Galgorm Castle Golf Club and Massereene Golf Club, over the first two days before a halfway cut reduces the field to the top 60 professionals, including ties, in the men’s and women’s draws. The third round will take place at Galgorm Castle before a further 54-hole cut takes place with the top 35 and ties from the men’s and women’s draws advancing to the final round on Sunday. The ISPS HANDA World Invitational will attract a field of 288 players, 144 men and 144 women. The women’s field will be split equally between the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour. The $3 million purse will be split evenly, with men and women competing for two equal prize funds.
The 2021 event formed part of the European Tour’s 2021 UK Swing, taking in tournaments in Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England across July and August. It will be the first time an event of this format was trisanctioned by the European Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour in the northern hemisphere – following in the footsteps of the ISPS HANDA Vic Open in Australia which has the same format. It resulted with Daniel Given's coming from six strokes behind to win the men's tournament, while Thailand's Pajaree Anannarukarn was the female champion.
