1 PETER
2:1-10
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
As you come to him, the living Stone rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house a to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and, “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.”
They stumble because they disobey the message which is also what they were destined for.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’sspecialpossession, thatyoumaydeclarethepraisesofhimwho called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
JOHN 2:23-3.12
Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name. But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.
Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
“How cansomeone bebornwhen they are old?” Nicodemusasked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit b gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
“How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.
“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

SUNDAY
OF THE WORLD CHURCH (GREEN SUNDAY)
The second Sunday after Easter is one of the most beautiful and mysterious Sundays of our church. This Sunday has two names: World Church Sunday (Ashkharamadran Giragi) and Green Sunday (Ganach Giragi).
The term World Church refers to the Upper Room in Zion, where Christ held His Last Supper and established the mystery of the, and where after Christ's Ascension, the apostles gathered before and after the
resurrection and Pentecost. It believes is that the room was John Mark's home... So the Upper Room became the oldest and best symbol of the entire church and we call it the World Church. This Sunday we celebrate the universal Church of Jesus Christ.
The name Green given to this Sunday conveys the idea of new life symbolized by awakening rebirth of nature dressed in green for the spring season. By the resurrection of our Lord, the whole world was given an opportunity to live a new life in Jesus Christ.
The Green Sunday along with Easter, is movable and may fall between April 5 and May 9. This year the Green Sunday is celebrated on April 26.
DID YOU KNOW?
The Sunday of the World Church or Green Sunday is specific to the Armenian Church. It is the continuation of Easter celebrations and especially celebrated in churches, where the faithful go on a pilgrimage. The celebrations take place all day. In some regions on Green Sunday people culour the eggs in green colour.
