ՏԷՐՈՒՆԱԿԱՆ ԱՂՕԹՔ Օրհնեալ Տէր մեր Յիսուս Քրիստոս. ամէն: Հայր մեր, որ յերկինս ես, սուրբ եղիցի անուն քո: Եկեսցէ արքայութիւն քո, եղիցին կամք քո որպէս յերկինս եւ յերկրի: Զհաց մեր հանապազորդ տուր մեզ այսօր, եւ թող մեզ զպարտիս մեր, որպէս եւ մեք թողումք մերոց պարտապանաց: Եւ մի տանիր զմեզ ի փորձութիւն, այլ փրկեա զմեզ ի չարէ: Զի քո է արքայութիւն եւ զօրութիւն եւ փառք յաւիտեանս. ամէն։ ԸՆԹԵՐՑՈՒՄ ՄԱՏԵԱՆ ՈՂԲԵՐԳՈՒԹԵՆԷՆ (ՆԱՐԵԿ) ԲԱՆ ԾԱ ՍՐՏԻ ԽՈՐՔԵՐԻՑ ԽՈՍՔ ԱՍՏԾՈՅ ՀԵՏ Ա Արդ, ես մահացուս ամենապատիր` երկրածնի՜ միթէ պաղատեցի մի, Որին ընդունայն է աղաղակել. Մահկանացուի՞ միթէ բանական, Որից փրկութիւն յուսալը լինի սնոտի ու սուտ. Ոմն եղծականի՞, Որի զօրութիւնն անուժ խօսքի պէս լինի զուր, նանիր. Երկրաւոր գահակալ իշխանների՞, Որոնց բարիքներն էլ իրենց նման լինեն անցաւոր. Հարազատ եղբո՞ր, Որն ինքն էլ կարօտ լինի իր անձի անդորրութեանը. Հո՞րն իմ երկրաւոր, Որի օրերի նուազութեան հետ խնամքն էլ է պակասել.

Ինձ ծնող մո՞րս, Որ հրաժարուած լինելով կեանքից` գութն է ցամաքել. Արդեօք աշխարհի թագաւորների՞ն, Որոնք մեռցնելու, քան թէ կեանք տալու հնարքներ են միշտ մտածում միայն,Այլ քե՜զ դիմեցի, բարերա՛ր Աստուած, օրհնեալ ի բարձունս, Որ կենդանի ես եւ կենդանութիւն կտաս բոլորին. Եւ մահից յետոյ էլ անեղծապէս կարող ես նորոգել: Բ Եթէ քեզանից փախչենք, դու մեր ետեւից կվազես. Եթէ տկարանանք, կզօրացնես. Եթէ շեղուենք, դու մեզ շիտակ շաւիղի վրայ կհանես. Եթէ պատկառենք, կքաջալերես. Եթէ հիւանդանանք հոգով ու մարմնով, կբժշկես, Եթէ գարշանանք մեղքերով, կմաքրես. Եթէ ստենք, քո ճշմարտութեամբ դու մեզ կուղղես. Եթէ գլորուենք անդունդներ անտակ, երկինքը ցոյց կտաս մեզ. Եթէ մենք չուզենք մեր կամքից դառնալ, դու կդարձնես. Եթէ մեղանչենք, կողբաս, եթէ արդարանանք, կժպտես. Եթէ օտարանանք, կսգաս, եթէ մօտենանք, կտօնես. Եթէ տանք, կընդունես, եթէ դանդաղենք, կհամբերես. Եթէ մենք ապերախտ լինենք, դու առատապէս կշնորհես. Եթէ թուլանանք, կտրտմես, եթէ արիանանք, կխնդաս: Գ Հարիւրերկուերորդ սաղմոսն օրհնաբան եւ հրաշագեղ սփոփում է սիրտն իմ վհատեալի. Եւ աւետում է ինձ կեանքի մեծ յոյս, որպէս հաւաստիք անձիս փրկութեան. Յաղթահարում է դեւերին բոլոր եւ բանսարկուին մատնում վարանքի, 3

Ինչպէս տէրունի խաչի նշանը պանծալի, բարեբախտ եւ հրաշափառ, Անխոնարհելի բարձրութեամբ լուսո եւ անպարտելի զօրութեամբ վերնոյն Ախոյան է նա կանգնել անհողդողդ անշարժելի յաւերժ-յաւիտեան Ընդդէմ բռնութեան անբարեբարոյ Բելիարի: Նա ունի իր մէջ գիտուն, հետամուտ մտքերի համար հոգեշահ գանձեր, Որոնք բերում են մահուան` պարտութիւն, մեղքերին` լուծում, Կրկնակի յոյսեր` ա՛յս եւ անվախճան կեանքերի համար, Եւ արդարներին` անեղծանելի նորոգման խոստում, Բարեհրաւէր եւ կենդանատու կանոններ` գրուած Աստծոյ հոգով: Եւ ոչ միայն այդ, այլ բոլոր երգերն էլ սաղմոսների` Մի-մի կտակ են մարդկութեան համար կենդանագրուած, Որոնք, արդարեւ, մաքուր սրտերին են տեսանելի: Դ Նախկին օրէնքը, որ նոր օրէնքի օրինակն էր թոյլ, Որպէս առաջին անգամ տեղ հասնող մեծ աւետագիր կեանքի կործանման` Երկնակրօն, վերնակենցաղ եւ մի՜շտ անճառելի կեանքի աւետիս Ու վստահութիւն էր պարունակում, Եւ սակայն գրուածքն այդ Ջնջելի էր եւ նրա օրինակն` այլայլելի. Յուսահատ յանցաւորներին դատապարտելու պաշտօն ուներ նա, Երկրային մի կտակ էր այն խափանելի եւ տկար միջնորդ հաշտարարութեան, Եւ որով` խօսքերն աղօթողների անկատար էին: 4

Այդ մասին ստոյգ վկայում է փրկութիւնը Մանասէի` Նրա այնքան շատ եւ անբուժելի վէրքերից յետոյ. Նա, որ արդարների արիւնով լցրեց մեծ թագաւորին նուիրուած Հրաշանուն քաղաքն հայրենի, ըստ մարգարէագիր անսուտ պատմութեան: Նա, որ տեսանողներից մեծին իսկ` բազմերախտ պաշտպան իր դաստիարակին, Նախնակերտ յարկի տեսչին սղոցեց մահուան մեքենայով, Եւ մարմինն երկու կտոր անելով` մաշեց դժնդակ չարչարանքներով, Ապստամբութեան խորհրդով կտրած փրկանակն յոյսի: Դրա հետ մի այլ չարութիւն էլ նա գործեց մոլեգին. Ընդդէմ բարձրեալի հանդգնեց մղել նա քրէական մի աստուածամարտ, Քանզի չամաչեց երբէք` արարչի պատիւն ու անունը իւրաբնակ խորանից մերժել, Եւ հալածելով Աստծոյ հոգին` ինքը Բելիարի հետ համաձայնեց: Քանզի նոյն այդ տաճարը տիրական` արարչի խնկարկութեանը սահմանուած, Երկրային հռչակաւոր հանդիսատեղին, ազգերին սարսափ ազդող սրբավայրը, Որտեղ տեսիլներն հրեշտակային եւ աստուածային հրամաններն յաղթող` Լուսաւոր, պայծառ յայտնութեամբ էին ծանուցւում, Այդտեղ, այդ երկնանման, սքանչելատես վայրը ահազդու քարուքանդ արաւ Եւ քառադիմակ ու նախանձարկու Քեւան անունով մի կուռքի համար Նա յոյժ գարշելի պաշտօնատեղի ու դիւաճենճեր զոհարան դարձրեց: Զրկելով երկնաւոր թագաւորին իր կեանքից արքայական, 5

Ամենահարուստին իր ստացուածքներից թափուր թողնելով, Եւ տանուտերին արած անհանգիստ ու տատանեալ թափառական` Բեեղզեբուղի ձեղունը նկարազարդեց եւ ահեղ անունը վտարեց նրանից. Գերի վարելով զովեալի աւանդը, ողբալի կերպով նուազեցրեց ողորմածի մասը. Լոյսի սրահը ապարանք շինեց փոքր աղուեսի համար Եւ ամէն ինչ ունեցողին ոչ իսկ մի տաղաւար թողեց` իր գլուխը դնելու. Հզօրի ցանկապատը քանդելով` Արեամբ սրսկուած սեղանն այն մեծախորհուրդ Հատկացրեց բախտագուշակութեան ու հմայութիւնների: Լայն ճանապարհներ բացեց բազմաթիւ` գայթակղումների համար, Դառնալով ինքը կորստեան հովիւ սատակման հօտին Եւ մոլորութեան բուռն վարդապետ. Եւ այդ բոլորը նա արաւ, գիտենալով հանդերձ կրօնի օրէնքները ողջ Եւ ունենալով Դաւթին նմանակից հայր` մեծ Եզեկիան: Ե Այսպէս, նա այնքան չարիքներ գործեց, որ մինչեւ անգամ պատիւն Աստծոյ, Որն արքայական փառք ընծայեց նրան, հայհոյեց ու թշնամանեց, Եւ սրախողխող սպանեց բազում աղօթողների: Եղաւ նա ընտանի դաւաճան, մերձաւոր վատնիչ, Հարազատ սատակիչ, մեղսակից սպանող: Չէր կարող դառնալ նա Աստծուն կրկին, զի ուրացել էր նրան. Չէր կարող յիշել Աբրահամին, զի խորթացել էր նրանից. Չէր կարող Իսահակով աղօթել, զի նզովուած էր նրանից.

Չէր կարող Իսրայէլով պարծենալ, զի տարագիր էր այդ մեծախորհուրդ կոչման շնորհից. Չէր կարող դաւթեան երգը երգել, զի կշտամբիչն էր նրա. Չէր կարող մօտենալ քաւարանին, զի պղծել էր այն. Չէր կարող ապաւինել աստուածագիծ տապանակին, Զի այն գարշելի ձուլածոյի հետ էր փոխանակել. Չէր կարող Մովսէսին դիմել, զի անքաւելի էին իր մեղքերը նրա հանդէպ. Չէր կարող աղաչել Ահարոնին, զի յանցապարտ էր նրա առջեւ: Չէր կարող դիմել մարգարէների խմբին մերձաւոր, զի նրանց սպանողն էր նա: Սակայն եւ այնպէս նրա մեղքերին քաւութիւն եղաւ Եւ արքունի իշխանութեամբ դարձեալ պարգեւատրուեց, Որպէսզի քեզ համար, ո՛վ բարերար, Սերնդէսերունդ եւ դարէ ի դար գովեստներ անճառ եւ անլռելի աւելացնես դու, Եւ դարպասն յոյսի` մտնելու համար միշտ անփակ պահես, Ի փառս քո բարձրութեան եւ ի փրկութիւն դատապարտեալիս, Ո՛վ անմահական պարգեւների տուիչ Քրիստոս, Գովեա՜լդ յաւիտեան. ամէն: ԱՂՕԹՔ Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա: Ամենակալ եւ Ամենամեծդ Աստուած, Քու անապական եւ երկնային յարկերուդ մէջ ընդունէ մեր այս աղօթքը ու բանաւոր պաշտամունքը: Արդարութեան եւ իմաստութեան Քու լոյսդ ծագեցուր մեր վրայ եւ զմեզ`լոյսի եւ ցերեկուան որդիներ ըրէ, որպէսզի երկիւղածութեամբ ապրինք մեր կեանքը եւ առանց գայթակղութեան աւարտին հասցնենք: Քանզի Դուն ես մեր Փրկիչն ու Օգնականը, եւ Քեզի կը վայելեն փառք, իշխա7

նութիւն եւ պատիւ, այժմ եւ միշտ եւ յաւիտեանս յաւիտենից. Ամէն: ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆ ԸՍՏ ՅՈՎԱՆՆԷՍԻ 17: 6- 26 Բացայայտեցի քու անունդ այն մարդոց՝ որ տուիր ինծի աշխարհէն: Քուկդ էին՝ եւ ինծի տուիր զանոնք, ու պահեցին քու խօսքդ: Հիմա գիտցան թէ ամէն ինչ որ տուիր ինծի՝ քեզմէ՛ է. որովհետեւ այն խօսքերը որ տուիր ինծի՝ ես տուի անոնց, անոնք ալ ընդունեցին եւ ճշմա՛րտապէս գիտցան թէ ես քեզմէ՛ ելայ, ու հաւատացին թէ դո՛ւն ղրկեցիր զիս: Ես կը թախանձեմ անո՛նց համար. ո՛չ թէ կը թախանձեմ աշխարհին համար, այլ անոնց համար՝ որ դուն տուիր ինծի, որովհետեւ անոնք քուկդ են: Եւ ամէն ինչ որ իմս է՝ քո՛ւկդ է, եւ ինչ որ քուկդ է՝ ի՛մս է, ու ես փառաւորուած եմ անոնցմով: Ա՛լ ես աշխարհի մէջ չեմ. բայց անոնք աշխարհի մէջ են, ու ես կու գամ քեզի: Սո՜ւրբ Հայր, պահէ՛ քու անունովդ անոնք՝ որ դուն տուիր ինծի, որպէսզի մէ՛կ ըլլան՝ ինչպէս մենք մէկ ենք: Մինչ անոնց հետ էի աշխարհի մէջ, զանոնք կը պահէի քու անունովդ: Անոնք որ դուն տուիր ինծի՝ ես պահեցի, եւ անոնցմէ ո՛չ մէկը կորսուեցաւ, բայց միայն՝ այն կորուստի որդին, որպէսզի գրուածը իրագործուի: Ա՛լ հիմա կու գամ քեզի, եւ այս բաները կը խօսիմ աշխարհի մէջ, որպէսզի իմ ուրախութիւնս լման ըլլայ իրենց մէջ: Քու խօսքդ տուի անոնց, եւ աշխարհը ատեց զանոնք՝ որովհետեւ աշխարհէն չեն, ինչպէս ես աշխարհէն չեմ: Չեմ թախանձեր որ վերցնես զանոնք աշխարհէն, հապա՝ որ պահես զանոնք չարէն: Անոնք աշխարհէն չեն, ինչպէս ես աշխարհէն չեմ: Սրբացո՛ւր զանոնք քու ճշմարտութեամբդ. քու խօ՛սքդ ճշմարտութիւն է: Ինչպէս դուն աշխարհ ղրկեցիր զիս, ես ալ աշխարհ ղրկեցի զանոնք: Անոնց համար ես զիս կը սրբացնեմ, որպէսզի իրենք ալ սրբացած ըլլան ճշմարտութեամբ: 8

Բայց կը թախանձեմ ո՛չ միայն ասոնց համար, այլ նաեւ անոնց համար՝ որ պիտի հաւատան ինծի իրենց խօսքով: Որպէսզի բոլորն ալ մէ՛կ ըլլան, ինչպէս դուն՝ Հա՜յր՝ իմ մէջս, ու ես՝ քու մէջդ. որ անո՛նք ալ մէկ ըլլան մեր մէջ, որպէսզի աշխարհը հաւատայ թէ դո՛ւն ղրկեցիր զիս: Այն փառքը՝ որ դուն տուիր ինծի, ես տուի անոնց, որպէսզի մէկ ըլլան՝ ինչպէս մենք մէկ ենք. (ես՝ անոնց մէջ, ու դուն՝ իմ մէջս.) որպէսզի իրենք կատարելապէս մէկ ըլլան, եւ աշխարհը գիտնայ թէ դո՛ւն ղրկեցիր զիս, ու սիրեցիր զանոնք՝ ինչպէս սիրեցիր զիս: Հա՜յր, անոնք որ տուիր ինծի, կ՚ուզեմ որ իրենք ալ ըլլան ինծի հետ՝ ո՛ւր որ ես եմ, որպէսզի տեսնեն իմ փառքս՝ որ տուիր ինծի. որովհետեւ դուն սիրեցիր զիս աշխարհի հիմնադրութենէն առաջ: Արդա՜ր Հայր, աշխարհը չճանչցաւ քեզ. բայց ես ճանչցայ քեզ, եւ ասոնք գիտցան թէ դո՛ւն ղրկեցիր զիս: Քու անունդ ճանչցուցի անոնց, ու պիտի ճանչցնեմ. որպէսզի այն սէրը՝ որով դուն սիրեցիր զիս՝ ըլլայ անոնց մէջ, ու ե՛ս ալ անոնց մէջ»: ՔԱՐՈԶ Վասն հիւանդաց եւ ամենայն վշտացելոց աղաչեսցուք զՓրկիչն մեր Քրիստոս, զի ողորմեսցի ըստ մեծի ողորմութեան Իւրում եւ բժշկեսցէ զախտս եւ զհիւանդութիւնս հոգւոց եւ մարմնոց ծառայից Իւրոց եւ կատարեալ առողջութեամբ հասուսցէ զամենեսեան ի մշտնջենաւոր եւ յանախտ կեանս: Որ առաքեցաւ ի Հօրէ ի բժշկութիւն ազգի մարդկան Միածին Որդին Աստուծոյ՝ Տէր մեր եւ Փրկիչ Յիսուս Քրիստոս. կեցո՛ եւ ողորմեա՛: ԲԺՇԿՈՒԹԵԱՆ ԱՂՕԹՔ Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա: Փարատէ՛ ցաւերը եւ բժշկէ՛ հիւանդութիւնները 9

քու ժողովուրդէդ, Տէր Աստուած մեր եւ բոլորին կատարեալ առողջութի՛ւն շնորհէ` Քու ամենայաղթ խաչիդ նշանով, որուն միջոցով մարդկութեան տկարութիւնը վերցուցիր եւ դատապարտեցիր մեր կեանքի եւ փրկութեան թշնամին: Դուն ես մեր կեանքն ու փրկութիւնը, բարերար եւ բազումողորմ Աստուած. միայն Դո՛ւ կրնաս ներել մեր մեղքերը եւ մեզմէ հեռացնել ախտերն ու հիւանդութիւնները. Քեզի յայտնի են մեր կարիքները: Բարիքներ պարգեւող, առատ ողորմութիւնդ պարգեւէ՛ քու արարածներուդ՝ իւրաքանչիւրին ըստ իր պէտքին, որովհետեւ արարածներուդ միջոցով միշտ կը գովաբանուի Ամենասուրբ Երրորդութիւնդ. Այժմ եւ միշտ եւ յաւիտեանս յաւիտենից. ամէն:

ՔԱՐՈԶ Սուրբ խաչիւս աղաչեսցուք զՏէր, զի սովաւ փրկեսցէ զմեզ ի մեղաց եւ կեցուսցէ շնորհիւ ողորմութեան իւրոյ: Ամենակալ Տէր Աստուած մեր, կեցուսցէ՛ եւ ողորմեսցի: ՊԱՀՊԱՆՈՒԹԵԱՆ ԱՂՕԹՔ Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա, Տէր ողորմեա: Պահպանիչ եւ հաւատացեալներու յոյս, Քրիստոս Աստուած մեր, պահէ պահպանէ եւ օրհնէ Հայոց ազգը եւ Հայաստանեայց Եկեղեցին. LORD’S PRAYER Blessed be our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory unto the ages of ages.

READING: FROM MADYAN VOGHPERKOUTYAN (NAREG) Prayer 51 Speaking with God from the Depths of the Heart A Now, should I, a mortal who has strayed in every way, plead with another earthly being, to whom it is vain to cry out?

To a mere rational mortal, on whom it would be false to place hope of salvation?

To a frail human, whose strength is as feeble and faltering as his word?

To the princes on earthly thrones, whose trappings are as transitory as their beings?

To a blood brother, who likewise is needy of contentment?

To my earthly father, whose care diminishes with his dwindling days?

To my mother, who bore me, whose compassion waned with her retreating life?

To the kingdoms of this world, perhaps, who are always more artful in killing than giving life?

Or to you, beneficent God, glorified in the highest, who live and give life to all and who after death are able to work incorruptible renewal.

B For if we flee, it is you who come after us.

If we are weak, you give us strength.

If we falter, you set us on the right and easy path.

If we faint, you encourage us.

If we are ailing in body and soul, you heal us.

If we lie, you justify us with your truth.

If we stumble into the abyss, you direct us to heaven.

If we do not turn from our willfulness, you guide us.

If we sin, you weep.

If we are just, you smile.

If we are estranged, you mourn.

If we approach, you celebrate.

If we give, you receive.

If we become stubborn, you are patient.

If we are ungrateful, you grant abundantly.

If we quit, you are sad.

If we are brave, you rejoice.

C The blessed and wonderful Psalm One Hundred Three comforts my failing heart, and heralds the good news of the hope of life.

It is an assurance of salvation that triumphs over demons and the doubts of 13

the Slanderer.

It is like the Lord’s cross, a sign of good fortune, glorious and resplendent, unshakable in its exalted light, invincible in the strength on high, standing as an irresistible champion, unmovable forever against the immoral ways of Satan’s tyranny.

For the discerning soul, it is a treasure of spiritual goods, showing the defeat of death and the absolution of sin, plus double hopes for each, now and eternally.

It promises restoration for the righteous.

Its rules preach goodness and give life as written by the Spirit of God. The Psalms were songs of everything for the pure in heart: a testament of life, written for all people.

D For the Old law was a faint image of the New, holding in its bosom good news and assurance of the great, blessed victory over death and heavenly life like that of the angels forever, beyond telling.

They were passing writings and replaceable rules.

Their function was to condemn the frailties of transgressors, and they were to be taken as earthly commitment and weak as an intercessor for reconciliation.

They leave undone the words of those who prayed.

Although they show the salvation of Manasseh, who after so many unforgivable sins, in the trustworthy account of the prophet, guilty of spilling the blood of the righteous in the city of his ancestors, a city 14

renowned for its miracles and dedicated to the great king.

Even the greatest of the seers, his teacher and the steward of the estate built by his forebears, was hacked in two by Manasseh with horrific torment.

As a symbol of his revolt, cutting off the last hope of his salvation, he committed yet another brutal misdeed and still he had the arrogance to enter into unlawful battle with the Most High.

Never even having respected the honor of the creator and having denied the name of him who dwells in the altar, he persecuted the spirit of God and pledged himself to Satan.

And that very temple of the Lord, designated by God for adoration with incense, the most renowned gathering place, revered by the nations as a sacred place, where angelic visions and triumphant divine signs appeared in brilliant revelation.

In that place reminiscent of heaven, awesome, resplendent, he erected the four-faced idol Kevan as a competing deity, turning it into a vile cult center, a wasteland of rubble, and altar for satanic sacrifices, dispossessing the heavenly king of his regal dwelling place, stripping the most bountiful of his belongings.

Transforming the landlord into a vagabond with no place to rest, he built a splendid tabernacle to Beelzebub, and expelled the awesome name from there.

Taking the legacy of the praiseworthy hostage, wretchedly degrading the stature of the most merciful, he turned the hall of light into a small fox hole and for him who holds the world in his hand, he left not even a hut from his own creation to cover his head.

He tore down the sanctuary of the Holy of Holies, where the mysteries of blood sacrifice were conducted, and in their place installed fortune tellers.

He opened many ways to sinfulness.

Like a shepherd of destruction he led his flock to slaughter, a frenzied priest of waywardness.

And all this he did, knowing full well the religion of the Laws, having as a father the great King Hezekiah, the likeness of David.

E He was so resourceful in his evil-doing that he blasphemed and contested God’s honor with which he had been granted the glory of the kingdom.

He butchered the multitude of the pious at prayer, a traitor to his family, a bane to his associates, murderer of his intimates, killer of his companions, he could not turn toward God, for he had rejected him.

He could not remember Abraham, for he had become estranged.

He could not pray by Isaac, for he had cursed him.

He could not take pride in Israel, for he had been banished from the glory of that name of great mystery.

He could not sing a song of David, for he had reprimanded him.

He could not approach the place of penitence, for he had befouled it.

He could not take refuge in the tabernacle of God, for he had replaced it with a molten idol.

He could not call to Moses, for his sins against him were unforgivable.

He could not pray to Aaron, for he was guilty before him.

He could not turn to the group of prophets close at hand, 16

for he had killed them all.

Nevertheless, he was granted forgiveness of sins and regained his rule over the kingdom, so that you, Lord who does good, might multiply and inspire praise beyond words that cannot be silenced, through the peoples of all nations and the ages of all times, so that you might keep the gates of hope open for entry, for the glory of your exaltation and as salvation for condemned people like me, to whom Christ gives the gift of immortality.

PRAYER Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy Receive, O great and Almighty God, these our prayers and reasonable service into your undefiled and heavenly tabernacles.

Make your light of righteousness and wisdom shine forth upon us and make us children of light and children of day, so that in godliness we may lead our life and fulfill it without stumbling; for you are our helper and Savior and to you is fitting glory, dominion and honor, now and always and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN: 17:6-26 “I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from 17

you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me.

None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.

“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. have made you known 18

to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

PRAYER FOR THE SICK Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy Dispel the pain and heal the sickness of thy people, Lord our God and grant to all perfect health by the sign of thine all-conquering cross through which thou removed the weakness of mankind and condemned the enemy of our life and salvation. Thou art our life and salvation, beneficent and all merciful God, who alone can forgive us our sins and remove diseases and sickness from us, to whom are known our needs and necessities. Bestower of gifts, grant thy bounteous mercy to thy creatures according to their individual needs, through whom thy Holy Trinity is always glorified and praised, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

LITANY By the Holy Cross let us beseech the Lord, that through it he may deliver us from our sins and save us by the grace of his mercy.

Almighty Lord our God, save us and have mercy upon us.

Deliver from enemies visible and invisible.
