1. Tell me about how your journey of Diva Day

International and being in the beauty, fashion, and entertainment industry started.
I saw a need in the industry when I started modeling.
There was no one that looked like me, and although I was surrounded by people I always felt alone. Out of a show of 10 scenes I would walk once and no one thought about the curvy girl until they saw that I was
GOOD so they began making clothing just for me. That was great, however, no one was training curvy girls to be great, so I decided to be the change I wanted to see in the industry.
2. For our May issue, we’re touching base on the theme of motherhood. Can you tell me a little bit about some of the women or mothers in your life who have inspired you so far?
My mother mothered her natural born, step-obtained and neighbor children with love and care. She nurtured every person in need that she came across. I remember hearing screams as a child one day coming from outside. A woman was being beaten by her husband, and she ran out the house down the middle of the street naked and bloody and the neighbors were peeking out the windows just like me. My mother, MY GOD ran outside with a blanket, grabbed the woman and pulled her into our house with the husband in hot pursuit. She slammed the door and came to the window with my fathers rifle and stood up to him and called the police. I KNEW THEN MY MOTHER WAS A GODDESS, and I wanted to be just like her.
3. You’ve worked with a lot of companies that focus on black beauty like My Black is Beautiful and Gold Series as well as being the coowner of black-owned boutique Tyreisa’s Boutique Too. How important is it, especially in today’s climate, to create products for Black people by Black people?
Our representation in Amerikkka has been greatly ignored, and our skin has been repeatedly discriminated against for as long as any of us can remember. So, in this climate it is immensely imperative that we Buy, Build, and Bridge products, relationships and gaps so that WE as melanated people can grow as a unit and stop being separated by those who shunned us for centuries. We must learn to come together and celebrate, uplift and pour in to each other.
4. With so many great things on your plate, from relaunching your eyewear,
You See It Eyewear, to your fashion tour with designer LaTonya Baker, how are you able to balance work with your own personal life?
Time management is something I pride myself
on. I am no longer easily distracted by things that don’t serve my greater good or the greater good of my loved ones. I have gone through a true spiritual awakening, and I am on a new journey with my life. Time allows me to smile every day and operate in love and gratitude and it feels amazing. Balance comes when you realize who you are and whose you are which allows you to walk in your purpose!
5. What’s your long-term goal for your brand?
I WILL become the largest and best option for the modeling industry to obtain amazing talent for their projects, my eyewear WILL become a staple in the fashion industry, my Zenergy
Room WILL become the go to Wellness Spa for healing, my boutique will become the go to house of fashion for women of all sizes. MsNickeeTheBrand
WILL become a soughtafter voice for industry empowerment for women.
6. What is something that you want our audience to know about MsNickee
I LOVE YOU. I don’t have to know you to love you, we are all human and we all need to feel cared for and thought about. If
I can give that feeling to someone in need of it then
I am happy. You can be anything you desire, GO FOR IT, at least TRY. Stop letting people and things stop you from achieving everything your heart desires. You are deserving of ALL THINGS. I will be your champion, I will be your teacher, I will be your shoulder, I will be what you need me to be if you put in the work to be what YOU want to become! I AM A GODDESS and I walk in GODDESS PRINCIPLES!
Latest Projects
As the pandemic rushed into 2020 I quickly found out who was there for me and truly with me without strings attached. Unfortunately, in this industry you run into a lot of people that give you the representation of who they are and it will take all of WHO YOU ARE not to change and or succumb to the trickery of the industry. During that trying time I was forced to look inward and pivot which was when I decided to work on myself and find out what I truly wanted out of this industry. It allowed me to dig deeper into my own repair versus focusing on what’s wrong with others, loudly and clearly I heard FIX WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU! With all of that new information I was BLESSED to get into Holistic Therapy and herbalism and learned how to heal internally and externally and got my Wellness Spa license and opened The Zenergy Room. Ever since then my entire mindset has changed, from my circle of friends , my business and so much more.
I currently have my new showroom opening up, a fashion tour with ISMSK–I’m Still My Sisters Keeper– (LaTonya Baker) a show I host every year and co-direct. The relaunch of my eyewear company, You See It Eyewear, and several motivational speaking engagements geared towards the encouragement and growth for women juggling business, love and life.
I absolutely LOVE what I do in the hair, beauty , fashion and entertainment industry and I plan on being the change I want to see FOREVER in the game!
