Mystery person of ToMUN
There will be daily clues which will lead you to a mystery person. You should be alert and observant during this year’s event.

On the 26th of September the ToMUN 2024 Opening Ceremony took place. The event took place in the beautiful CKK Jordanki, which was also the venue for last year’s opening. After everyone took their seats a short film about the conference was played, where we got to see the many faces that helped prepare it all. The film was swiftly followed by the arrival of the Steering Committee. Succeeding their introduction a clip about the city’s attractions and tourism was played, afterwards the President of Toruń Piotr Gulewski. Continuing his speech a promotional movie about our voivodeship was shown. Still in the local spirit the microphone was given to Marshal Ostrowski and then to prof. Marcin Czyżewski of the Toruń City Council. Afterwards the attache of the Embassy of the Republic of Germany Xenia Schroeter took the stage talking about history and her hopes for the future. Then a representative of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia David Kipphut spoke about the long lasting bond that our cities share.
That was followed by a stunning musical performance by Alek Wietrzykowski who performed “Una Mattina” by Ludovico Einaudi on the piano. That iconic performance was followed by the speech of the biggest icon of our school, our head-teacher Hanna Wrycza-Wilińska. Then the Secretary General Ola Smoleńska took the stage and shared her history with ToMUN which reaches back to 2019 when she was an admin while still being in primary school. She reminisces on past editions and shows her love and appreciation for the event. After the three remaining heads of ToMUN spoke about their experiences and memories of the event it was time for the mastermind behind it all to make an appearance. Daniel Szczygieł who has been organising conferences for the last few years gave a short speech about the event and shortly after that ToMUN 2024 was officially declared open.

For nine editions, ToMUN has definitely left participants with countless memories. Every sense marks our minds: the sounds of debates, the boiling water for morning coffee, the rhythm of the streets, and the lively ToMUN parties. It all comes down to music. That’s why today we went around the school asking for song recommendations that remind you of MUNs. We’ve compiled all your memories of getting ready, riding the bus, and heading to a coffee shop after the debates into one playlist. We heard great stories connecting music to moments from your past conferences. Igor Rychlicki shared his experience from StetiMUN in Szczecin, where he listened to "Śmierć w bikini" and "Gdańsk-Szczecin" on the way. Our French teacher introduced us to a beautiful song called "Dans les yeux d’Émilie."

We have prepared a special activity for you to make yourself feel a bit like a detective. We have selected a certain person among the Tomun community who is said to be the impostor of the game. There will be daily clues which will lead you to a mystery person. You should be alert and observant during this year’s event. You can expect a mention containing clues everyday in our edition. We are about to give you the first ones! this person was in the first lunch group this person stands out with her height this person is known for her sense of style
