3D Printed Lamp Freelance Lamp
I was approached by a small 3D printing manufacturer/consultancy with the task of designing a business-to-consumer home ware product, leverage the capabilities of their cuttingedge 3D printing facilities. As an engineering company, Scaled specializes in using 3D printing for manufacturing. This project delved into designing a desk or bedside lamp that maximized the advantages of 3D printing. However, the focus was on single-print solution with minimal postprocessing.

IDEATION Freelance/ Lamp
Drawing inspiration from my mood board, I began with a basic foundation form and enhanced it by incorporating repetitive patterns, textures, and intricate details to achieve a more intricate design. Additionally, I explored the use of multiple materials to elevate the overall look and feel, aiming for a higher quality finish. I dedicated time to experimenting with the assembly process and the lighting effects to ensure the desired outcome for the product. Freelance/

The result was a tall cylindrical bedside lamp featuring intricate fin designs. Emitting a soft glow, the lamp’s design includes small gaps between each fin, allowing for light leaks that vary in intensity, creating an intriguing lighting effect. I find this aspect compelling and would like to explore it further. The lamp is supported by a hardwood base, housing most of the electrical components and providing a substantial, quality feel to the product. Freelance/ Lamp

Home Physio
Minor University Project
This project rethinks the process of physiotherapy. Flo employs skeletal tracking to monitor users during home physio exercises. An AI system then generates form prompts based on this data to ensure safe completion of the exercises.
Problem: How might we increase stability in later life
/ There are over 3 million falls a year amoung the over 65’s, costing £2.3billion
/ The Society of Physiotherapy proposes that strengthening can prevent over 200,000 falls
/ Saving £275 million annually.
/ However 24% of older adults fail to do any exercise.
/ After 30, we lose up to 8% of muscle mass.
/ Physio and strengthening activities can prevent and even reverse muscle deterioration.
CONTEXT
Breif: Re-imagine the physiotherapy process.
/ Average 45 day wait for face to face physio consultation.
/ 24% of older adults fail to do any exercise.
Opportunity: Use new technology to improve physiothreapy
/ 90% of physios weren’t using video consultation pre pandemic.
/ 81% of physios would use video consultation post-pandemic.
/ Video consultation is 11% cheaper than traditional physio.
/ 47% of patients would chose video consultation in the future.
/ Barriers to video consultation; outdated computer OS, crashing, insufficient software, limited hardware, safety concerns.
University/ Home Physio CONTEXT
I explored various ideas before settling on the concept of creating a digital physiotherapy portal. However, I realized that users required a physical product to access the portal effectively. Consequently, I began developing a range of solutions for at-home physiotherapy. 3D models played a crucial role, especially in determining size, proportion for user interaction, and housing components during the development process

- Chartered Physiotherapist and lecturer specialising in musculoskeletal issues.
How does it improve stablity in later life?
Virtual consultations provide more regular feedback than in-person sessions, facilitating faster progression. AI form prompts ensure effective and safe physio at home, while daily activity reminders keep users motivated.
The goal is to enhance older adults’ independence through daily movement, exercise, and physiotherapy, aiming to reduce emotional strain on family and carers while alleviating social and economic burdens on the healthcare system
The primary driving force behind this project stemmed from the prevailing trend of biophilia, a trend expected to persist into 2019. This involves the strategic placement of plants to occupy compact spaces and the rise of vertical gardens. However, there is a shift in the preferred plant varieties, transitioning away from succulents to embrace a wider array of plant options.
Terrium
Live brief
I embraced the challenge of crafting a home ware product by seamlessly blending trend research with innovative design solutions for a real-life client
The result was a beautifully crafted terrarium tailored for beginners, providing a different wasy of incoperating plant life into their homes.
Live Brief/ Terrium CONTEXT
Interior inspiration for design.
Live Brief/ Terrium CONTEXT
The process started by reimagining traditional plant pots and planters, exploring new shapes and materials. The breakthrough occurred when the concept of incorporating a display element emerged. This pivotal idea paved the way for the terrarium design. The glass enclosure, reminiscent of a museum or gallery cover, not only elevates the planter to an exhibition case but also fosters a miniature biome within the terrarium, enabling a more diverse range of plant life.

Equivision
Major University Project
This project aims to enhance the riding experience for horse riders, particularly when navigating roads. It involves a thorough exploration of rider safety, focusing on improving driver behavior through the implementation of a riding camera system as a deterrent.
Problem: Improve equestrain experince on the road
97% of riders reported feeling anxious when riding on the road.
1,037 Incidents
1037 different incidents with riders on the roads.
Main cause of anxiety being other road users behaviors.
135 riders injured on the road. 1 rider killed.
60-70% of riders would ride on the road more frequenlty, If they felt safer.
40% of incidents were due to fast passing, 81% from close proximity to riders”
CONTEXT
Opportunity: Redesign a camera system for riders to imporve driver behavior.
/ Headcams improve drivers’ behaviors and attitudes when passing riders on the road.
/ Use of a headcam has lead to the successful prosecution of dangerous drivers.
However
/ The British eventing committee banned headcams over safety concerns.
/ Headcams can have adverse effects on helmet safety.
/ Headcams are uncomfortable and difficult to use.
/ Only 22%of riders use headcams.
CONTEXT University/ Equivision
Understanding the 3D outcome of the product was crucial for various reasons. Creating to-scale prototypes allowed testing of component housing, experimentation with size/proportions, and obtaining user feedback on comfort, usability, and effectiveness during riding. 3D Printed Pendant
Freelance Pendant
The client was impressed with the lamp concept I presented but wanted to create a higher priced item. For this brief they were looking to create a larger, more complicated high ticket product to sell. They hoped my increasing the size and complexity of the design it would deter 3D printing hobbyists creating there own versions.
Freelance/ Pendant CONTEXT
Competitor: .DECIMAL Made
Scaled wanted to sell high end home wares. They were keen for the product to not be a novelty 3D printed item but a premieum product with 3D printed elements. My main role was styling and concepsialtion of the design. Above you can see the some inspiration/ moodboard images that I presented to scale to illustrate the feel of product we wanted to create.
RESEARCH/ Trend & Mood
Freelance/ Pendant
I suggested creating a pendant light because the prospect of experimenting with material translucency intrigued me. The concept devloped into having a 3D printed infill as a distinctive feature that, creating a unique characteristic that could only be achieved through 3D printing. Additionally, the opulent appeal of a pendant light was seen as a strategic move to establish a presence in the high-end furniture market.

Commerical Gyms
With over 10 million people visiting health and fitness establishments nationwide, the commerical gym market is thriving. However, the key to a commercially successful facility lies in crafting an unforgettable training experience and considering each user’s unique journey through the gym iis key to designing a seamless experince.
Pro Sport
I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with numerous professional sports teams and institutions, such as Manchester City Football Club, Liverpool Football Club, and British Athletics. Designing a successful sport-specific facility presents an exciting challenge, demanding a good understanding of the sport in question alongside the requirements of players and coaches. Every aspect of a player’s wellbeing, from strength and conditioning to rehabilitation, must be considered. Additionally, teams are increasingly prioritizing player recovery as a crucial investment.
CONTEXT Fitness & Wellness
OUTCOME Fitness & Wellness
Since the pandemic, there’s been a surge in demand for home gyms. Designing a home gym is a deeply personal, involving an understanding of the client’s training preferences—whether they lean towards strength, functional, or cardio workouts. Given that most home gyms occupy limited space, selecting essential equipment and maximizing storage becomes crucial. Additionally, integrating luxury finishes and meticulous attention to detail ensures the gym seamlessly blends with the overall aesthetics of the home.
OUTCOME Fitness & Wellness
Designing for hotels and residences shares similarities with designing for commercial gyms, but the spaces are typically smaller and place a greater emphasis on wellness and rejuvenation. Users of these facilities are often travelers or seeking relaxation, shifting the focus away from performancebased goals towards prioritizing mind and body wellness.
