A little Bit about Chicago Chicago located on lake michigan in Illinois , is among the largest cities in the U.S. famed for its bold architectore.

Chicago continues to be a place that many people from diverse backgrounds call home. Before it was a city, it was the home to numerous indigenous peoples, a legacy which continues to frame our relationship with the city, the land, and the environment.

Today, Chicago has become a global city, a thriving center of international trade and commerce, and a place where people of every nationality and background come to pursue the American dream.

As Chicago grew, its residents took heroic measures to keep pace. In the 1850s, they raised many of the streets five to eight feet to install a sewer system – and then raised the buildings, as awell. Unfortunately, the buildings, streets and sidewalks were made of wood, and most of them burned to the ground in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The Chicago Fire Department training academy at 558 W. DeKoven St. is on the site of the O’Leary property where the fire began. The Chicago Water Tower and Pumping Station at Michigan and Chicago avenues are among the few buildings to have survived the fire.

Since 2009 its been a long term vision for Disney to reach net zero green house gas emissions Disney wants to conserve water, energy , ecosystem Keeping this in mind we plan of using materials from local suppliers Using energy efficient lighting Having a rain water collection system and also & dual flush tow-lets.

Also using recyclableEco friendly upholsteries Having solar power ’s installed Installing HVAC to improve indoor air quality And asking the staff and vistors to use public transportation and ride their bike or rental bikes

Concept The concept behind the walt disney office , is to create a space that reflects on not just the company but chicago bringing chicago and disney together. pulling for lake michagine and the skyline during a sunrise . A sunrise is a symbol of birth / rebirth , of awakening. Chicago symbolized ths same rebirth and awakinging . The coming of light, resurrection .As disney belives in magic and Community chicago is all about community . Focusing on oganic and archetectue puling the color pallete from the sunrise and water and disney magic .
