Harworth Medical Centre – Looking to the future! In April 2013 the Riverside Health Partnership based in Retford took over the contract for providing GP services at Harworth Medical Centre. Although Dr Raheem stayed on for a short period he has now retired leaving a new generation of Doctors providing services. This has involved a great deal of change, some of which was not initially welcomed but following a recent patient survey most patients now agree that the changes have brought about much needed improvements.

GP during normal working hours, there will be the facility to use the Retford site for GP access in the early evening.

On taking over at Harworth, Riverside formed a Patient Group so as patients could have a say in what services should be provided at the surgery. If you would like to become a member of the patient group, then please speak to the branch manager at Harworth.

With new houses being built in Harworth and the surrounding areas, there will be an increased need for greater GP access in the future. Currently Harworth Medical Centre has the smallest patient population of the three surgeries based in the Primary Care Centre. However, the Riverside Health Partnership is looking to provide an extra GP at the surgery which will allow for a doubling in patient numbers and easier access. The provision of a regular practice nurse has also brought about benefits to patients, especially those with long term conditions which require ongoing management. Access to female GPs has also allowed for an expansion to Women’s Health Services. Should you need any advice for Family Planning or contraceptive services, Dr Sohal has extensive experience in this area. Harworth Medical Centre currently provides Saturday morning access and it soon hoped that for those who have difficulty accessing the 8
