2024-2025 LEVEL I INFORMATION FORM

Level I Excursions are those which take students to familiar settings within the local area for day time activities which expose students to risks typically encountered in everyday living or while at school and which involve local transportation either by walking, subway, city bus, school bus, or taxi. Examples of Level I Excursions: trips to museums, local parks, a local store or neighbourhood, a library, an art studio, a concert hall, a theatre, another school, or athletic facility Parental consent for Level I Excursions is given at the beginning of each school year

Activity Description and Educational Rationale

The program offered at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is designed to help deliver the Matter and Materials strand from the science & technology curriculum, particularly the Properties of Air and The Characteristics of Flight Unit.

The students will be participating in activities looking at pneumatic and hydraulic systems, the concepts of pressure and lift as well as thrust and drag Students will also have the opportunity to take a trip back in time to the days of Daniel Bernoulli, a mathematician and scientist, which is a great link between the two subject areas

$50-$60

If your child is unable to attend the trip please let their homeroom teacher know by Monday, October 7th After that date your account will be charged for the trip

Special Considerations and What to Bring

Packed Peanut Free Lunch

Students who have an epi-pen should give one to their homeroom teacher; the other should be kept on the student at all times.

- If a student requires a puffer or other personal medication, this should be with the student at all times.

- Students should be dressed in their school uniforms

- Students should wear appropriate outerwear as there is a chance one of the exhibits we will visit is outside

- Students must bring a packed nut-free lunch including food and drink as there will be no opportunity for them to purchase food

- Cell phones are not permitted on the trip

- Students should be in their homerooms at 7:45 am, as the bus will be leaving at 8:00 am

- Students are expected to adhere to The York School Code of Conduct

This form should be shared with parents in advance of the excursion at the discretion of the Division Principal
