Activity Description and Educational Rationale

Students will visit these two downtown locations, which represent interesting venues in relation to our recent studies for a number of reasons They have undergone significant change over the course of Toronto’s history, presenting opportunities rich for exploration Students will be doing field work as they interview shopkeepers, artisans and visitors to understand the roles these locations play in creating the fabric of the city A professional vlogger and radio host from CHUM FM will prepare us for this trip, addressing the students in a pre-trip presentation.

An auxiliary and equally important aspect of this trip is presenting students with an opportunity to “practice” being out in the city as a member of a school group. They will be given tasks to perform in small groups within set boundaries, and will be expected to return to the group punctually. This trip will afford them the chance to practice responsibility, accountability and punctuality – all before the Ottawa Trip
