2023-2024 LEVEL I INFORMATION FORM Level I Excursions are those which take students to familiar settings within the local area for daytime activities which expose students to risks typically encountered in everyday living or while at school and which involve local transportation either by walking, subway, city bus, school bus, or taxi. Examples of Level I Excursions: trips to museums, local parks, a local store or neighbourhood, a library, an art studio, a concert hall, a theatre, another school, or athletic facility. Parental consent for Level I Excursions is given at the beginning of each school year.

It offers an opportunity for avid readers to test their book knowledge, expand their reading, and meet and compete with kids from other schools. The York School has three Junior School teams and one Middle School team competing at the first round. IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT QUALIFYING FOR THE FINAL ROUND: The top four teams (determined at the end of the initial competition on Feb. 8th) have the potential to move on to the finals. The final round will take place the next day on Friday, February 9th at 11 a.m. at McMaster University. If any of the York School teams advance, Ms. Larcina and/or Mr. Regner will communicate this to parents as soon as possible. Special Considerations and What to Bring
What to Bring: 1. WATER BOTTLE: All students need to bring a water bottle. 2. LUNCH: a.MIDDLE SCHOOL LUNCH: Middle School students will need to bring their own nut-free packed lunch, snacks and a water bottle. b.JUNIOR SCHOOL LUNCH: Sandwiches will be provided by The York School cafeteria. Students are permitted to bring their own lunch if they choose to. We ask that all students exercise caution when packing snacks for the bus and are aware that people in our community have serious allergies to foods. A NO NUT and NO PEANUT policy is in effect. 3. CLOTHING: Students must wear York branded apparel because we will be representing our school. 4. MEDICATION: Please bring any personal medication (such as personal epipen, puffer, etc) 5. CELL PHONES: Cell phones will be permitted on this trip, but will only be used for emergencies. NOTE ON CODE OF CONDUCT: Students are expected to adhere to the York school’s code of conduct, which involves following the instructions of the staff and adult supervisors without delay or argument, show respect and act with courtesy towards others, be helpful and considerate to others.
