Known as agglomerate, Granite Transformations worktop materials are made from genuine Italian granite, natural quartzite or recycled tempered glass, bonded together with up to 5% specially-formulated polymer resin. It is then heat-cured to

create a dense, highly cross-linked structure, which is impervious to moisture and extremely resistant to thermal and mechanical shock.

What that essentially means is Granite Transformations surfaces are tough, durable and impact resistant. Yet surprisingly, Granite Transformations agglomerate is much slimmer and up to a third lighter than granite slab or conventional engineered stone, which means it fits neatly on top of existing worktops, with no need for additional strengthening.

Also, unlike cheap imports that are made using cement-based resins, GT worktops have high tensile strength, so are not susceptible to cracking, and are flexible enough to follow the exact contours of the worktop beneath, as well as enabling gentle curves and sweeping bends. That’s the technical stuff over, but you should also know that there’s a

lifetime material warranty too.

Because your local Granite Transformations showroom will carry out the complete installation themselves, using factory-trained fitters, not sub-contractors, and have the full backing of the worldwide manufacturer, they can extend this guarantee to every worktop they fit. Which, you’ll agree, is very reassuring.

Nor are you limited on the choice of materials and colours. Three different agglomerate surfaces are offered, featuring either the distinctive look and appeal of Italian granite, the subtle shades and fine grain of quartzite, or the eco-friendly credentials of recycled glass, which in case you wondered is just as tough and durable as the other GT materials. Also, there is a choice of more than 50 different colours, from neutral shades that project a more refined finish, to bright red and orange for eyecatching blocks of colour.

Naturally, there is a series of black gloss worktops for contemporary kitchen styling, through to off-white and polar ice that reflect natural or artificial light, plus many colours between. Southam and District Lions Club is once again organising the annual Mop Day Hog Roast which will take place on the Olde Mint car park in Wood Street. This year we will be supporting The Southam Food Bank (The Trussell Trust).

We will donate 50% of all profits from this event to them, with the remaining 50% used for smaller donations to local charitable causes.

Please come along and see the hog being cooked, the Mayor cutting the first slice from the pig, take to the rides, enjoy the tombola and raffle. You can savour the aroma of the roasted meat and join the queue for the finest tasty treat of the night! Yes, baps filled with roasted pork, crackling, stuffing and apple sauce!

Heritage Open Day: An eclectic mix of artefacts showing how people lived and worked in the country. This small museum had been closed for some years following the death of its founder but is now being opened on some Sunday afternoons by a group of volunteers who have been working on the cataloguing and preservation of the museum Southam Christmas lights are busy making preparations for contents (well over 2000 to date). All of the exhibits were this year’s display but before then we are holding a Quiz on acquired locally and cover a wide variety of aspects of Friday 22nd September 7pm at the Graham Adams Centre country life. This year we will have more 'hands on' exhibits for visitors to try out and maybe some demonstrations. look out for the posters on how to enter a team.

There will be straw available for visitors to try their hand at corn dolly making.

NAPTON ART GROUP AUTUMN EXHIBITION Napton Art Group are holding their ever-popular Autumn Exhibition on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd October at Napton Village Hall (CV47 8LS) from 10 am until 5 pm. On display and for sale will be over 150 paintings and also cards, and craft exhibits. There will also be our usual range of delicious refreshments, a raffle and tombola. The entry charge is £1 for adults and there is no charge for children.
