SATURDAY NOVEMBER 5th 2016 AT SOUTHAM CRICKET CLUB Unfortunately due to the close proximity of new housing we cannot have our usual Bonfire this year. However the Fireworks will be better than ever but we will be starting a little earlier this year.

The Fireworks Display will start at 7.00pm This is an event that all families can attend but There will be some ‘bangs’ so do tell the kids!

Glow bands will be on sale and there will be delicious Jacket Potatoes, Hot Dogs and Soup on sale.

Club House open for drinks and of course soft drinks for the kids.

After the display everyone is welcome to listen and dance to: THE LOST BOYS So, join us and celebrate Guy Fawkes Night in fine style by supporting this local event.

ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT WILL BE GIVEN TO LOCAL CHARITIES.ADDITIONAL DONATIONS WELCOMED. Entrance through the gates on the night: £10 for a family (up to 4 people) or £5 Adults and £3 Child represents excellent value

Monday 17th October

Have a fling before the winter sets in at Southam’s famous Mop fair on Monday 17th October. Enjoy all the fun of the fair; the noise, the smell, the taste - talking of which: A highlight of the Southam Mop fair is the hog roasting by Southam Lions. As usual we will be situated behind the post office butting onto the back garden of the Old Mint.

The hog will be skewered by a 2 inch diameter pole and turned for several hours over a charcoal fire. Last year a passing lady was quite shocked at the sight but we assured her that the pig was quite dead when the pole was passed through the opposing orifices of the beast, despite the look of surprise on its face. The turning process is conducted by hand throughout the afternoon by the Lion members but anyone in the vicinity including children are welcome to have a turn. During this time we sell raffle tickets for prizes kindly donated by local businesses and Lion members. The proceeds of the raffle go to support the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and other local charitable causes.. We also run a tombola with many prizes; at only 20p a pop it is a great favourite of the kids.

The hog will be cooked to perfection by 6.30. The Southam mayor is invited to have the first piece after which Baps with slices of this delicious pork and stuffing will be on sale for £3.50 (including some apple sauce if required). Last year we sold out very quickly, so be sure to be in the eager queue for 6.30.
