Ingredients

Low calorie cooking spray

finely chopped

100g back bacon rashers, all visible fat removed,

425ml beef stock 1 level tbsp tomato purée

150ml red wine

Chopped 400g small shallots

Serves 4 Easy Recipe 11/2 Syns

700g stewing beef, all visible fat removed, cut into bite-size pieces 3 garlic cloves,

Method 1. Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C Fan/Gas 4.

Place a large frying pan sprayed with low calorie cooking spray over a medium heat. Add the bacon and shallots and fry for 3-4 minutes until starting to brown.

Add the beef. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes over a high heat until browned.

2. Stir in the garlic, red wine, stock, tomato purée and herbs. Season, bring to the boil and then transfer to a casserole dish. Cover and cook in the oven for 2 hours.

3. Meanwhile, boil the swede for 12-15 minutes until tender. Drain. Add the stock and nutmeg, then season and mash.

A sprig of fresh rosemary A sprig of fresh thyme 1 bay leaf

A small handful of fresh parsley, chopped, to garnish

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

4. Divide the bourguignon and mash between 4 plates, garnish with parsley and serve

Tip: To freeze, follow steps 1 to 3. Allow the mash and bourguignon to cool. Put them in separate freezer-proof containers, cover and freeze for up to 3 months.

To reheat, defrost overnight in a cool place. Once thawed, transfer to the fridge. To cook, pour the bourguignon into a pan and bring to the boil, stirring. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring, until hot. Transfer the mash to a pan. Stir and cook over a low heat, adding a little extra vegetable stock if needed, for 5 minutes, or until hot. Follow step 4. * Suitable for freezing

Fast fit servicing, brakes, shock absorbers, exhausts, service maintenance Fitting and balancing tyres to a high standard (training will be given) Carrying out all aspects of wheel alignment Maintaining the workshop to a high standard Advising customers both face to face and over the telephone on the right products to meet their requirements • Pricing jobs, ordering parts, creating invoices, and recording stock movements • Ensuring adequate maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials in the Workshop

The Person

The successful applicants for the roles of Vehicle Mechanic must be able to demonstrate excellent customer liaison and satisfaction skills and have the ability to sell an array of available services. With a flexible and positive approach you should be able to efficiently work under pressure. You should be a keen team player with a focus on providing excellent customers service, good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

You will need an eye for detail and must be literate and numerate.

CHILDREN AND CHOCOLATES! Once again Santa asked the Lions to escort him around Southam and local villages to meet the children there.

He kindly gave out loads of chocolates to all those lovely children who came out to greet him. Santa reckoned that he met 2,847 children during his Xmas Float visits.

Amongst the children the youngest was a 3 week-old child and the oldest adult an 82 year old lady happily re-living her childhood.

Whilst Santa was meeting the children, his helpers (Southam Lions Club members) collected over £5,000 from the local residents. The Lions club wish to thank the members of the community for their overwhelming generosity resulting in this impressive collection. This money is to be presented to their two chosen children's charities: The National Autistic Society and Macmillan Cancer Support.

S WELL AS being unique, The Millstone Hare was carefully named as such to root this lovely venue into its surroundings and local history.

It is believed that a mill may have b e en loca ted on th i s s i t e s i n c e Domesday Book recordings, and the last mill was built in the 18th century on much older foundations.

Early in 2016, two pieces of broken Millstone were discovered scattered along the bank. Carefully restored and pieced together, these millstones have now taken pride of place as features of The Millstone Hare. One piece serving as the door step at the entrance and one forms the base rock of the ornate feature fireplace in the restaurant.

DBPC’S stunning estate is also home to a wonderful selection of wildlife

which we love to watch throughout the seasons. We wanted to make links with one of the animals on site, and the hares are particularly fond of the polo pitches!

We love their symbolism of the British countryside and their character, and are incredibly proud to be home to a family of increasingly rare British mammals.
